Well worth the case price, too. A very fine brew, indeed. Yankovitch333 (612), Chesapeake City, Maryland, USA

Smooth and silky mouthfeel. Maple syrup, apple cider, caramel, and honey on the tongue, with a nice bitter hop finish. The alcohol is very well hidden. This was a great barley wine. bac080 (398), Boardman, Ohio, USA

I expected a very winey-tasting brew. Expectations failed again. An excellent beer, and far better than I expected. Smells of cheese. Reid (1093), Salem, Oregon, USA

Poured into my glass, its a nice deep ,warm chesnut brown with a tiny tan head..that doesnt last long but leaves attractive lacing.
Very pleasant a complex aroma, mostly of dark caramel malts and dark fruitiness..with hops showing through.
Taste is rather sweet and tasty, sweet like blackberries, black raspberries and luxurious dark chocolate. Some demerara sugar and coffee detected ,quite "winey".Alcohol taste is pleasing, like a nice sherry.
Nice on the palate and enjoyable mouthfeel throughout and a lovelly alcoholic warmth.
I found this barley wine very easy to drink..wish I had bought more to cellar for a year or so. 1more4dessert (231), Upstate, New York, USA

| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Feb 12, 2005 pours a beauteous amber and garnet, with a small head. the aroma is intense, like tons of caramel malts, raisins, pineapples, figs. deeply-hidden hops in there, with a touch of hops in the finish as well. more bitter in flavor than in the aroma, but it’s not over-the-top bitter, very appropriate use of hops. this is a phenomenal beer, probably the best barley wine i’ve had. tidiaguy (168), Hawley, Pennsylvania, USA

I have to say to date this is by far my favorite. Huge floral hop nose with fruity sweet undertones, plum, rasin. Taste is a minimal malt sweetness with with fruit flavors of plum, rasin, pear being predominant. There is just enough bitterness in the finish to balance (perfectly) a very copmlex flavor. Excelnent brew
