Sweet aromas of fig, plum, malts, and barley. As others have said, very well-balanced and solid body. Slightly carbonated with caramel flavors at first, then more of the aroma flavors come along with a distinct hop taste near the finish. Finishes with a floral hop aftertaste. Hides the 11% ABV very well. Jamison450 (4), USA does not count | 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Nov 12, 2007 One of my favorites. I would describe it as almost thick without being syrupy. The alcohol content is not noticeable given how high it is. It’s sweet without being sugary. Flavors are caramely with a fruity undertone. Excellent. matt7215 (1000), Cambridge, Ontario, Canada
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jan 10, 2008 Updated: Feb 27, 2008355 ml bottle from a trade with hogtownharry. bottle dec 22nd 2005. consumed jan 10th 2007. pours orangy/brown with no head and very lttle carbonation. very hazy with a lot of sediment. aromas: first of all hops, i cant believe there still there in this pontency but they are, secondly caramly malts. this sweetness rounds off the hop presents and gives you a good indication of whats coming with your first sip. the flavours on this one are huge. big sweet malty flavours with a still noticeable hop presents. perfectly balanced with a black tea finish. suburb in every way. thx harry for everything you sent but this was a true gem. cbeers21 (589), Miami, Florida, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jun 28, 2008 Pretty pour, looks tasty. NIce chocolatey fig flavors come off the top as well as dried fruits. Dusty character to the scent. NIce warming chocolate almost wheaty flavor. A long and warming finish is quite elegnt with a lasting malty richness and features a quiet lemon zestiness and an oaky followthrough. Very enjoyable. dmtroyer (420), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Apr 10, 2008 12oz. Brown body with orange highlights and an off-white head that quickly disappears. I have never experienced a barleywine like this, and it almost reminded me more of beers I have had in the "American Strong Ale" category. At any rate, this is an exceptional effort for a style I don’t often enjoy. The body is rich and concentrated with some very surprising bitter fruit, with toffee and almond flavors following with the strong malt backbone. Good carbonation lifts this brew above the sludge barleywines can become. An exceptional beer. timfoolery (484), California, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jan 3, 2009 Bottle from SoCal. From other barleywines, this one lacked the alcohol burn and had a great mix of malt and hops. It had a light spice and a distinct tastes of caramel. Excellent brew. imadeadguy (378), back in NJ!, New Jersey, USA

As i popped the cap, there was a "pifft" Pour is murky brown with little to no head. Aromas of raisins, sweet malt, caramel, and a hint of spice. Flavor is f%$#ing smooth and amazing. The hops have faded out completly. No alcohol is present and damn, what a treat. DocHop (278), Baltimore, Maryland, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Mar 9, 2008 Pours a beautiful dark amber/rust color with a thin yellow head that diminishes quickly.. Delicious fruity nose with hints of spice. Just slides over your tongue like a honey cream. Goes down very smoothly with powerful fruit and spice tastes. Leaves with a slight hop finish and a warmth in the stomach that pronounces the 11% ABV which would go unnoticed by taste alone. Fantastic beer!
