Wonderful bittersweet barley taste that dominates your mouth for a good long while afterwards. Palate is creamy and but not as complex as the taste. Real very nice beer. puzzl (2648), New York, New York, USA

Aroma is hoppy, roasty, very nice, with a little coffee and malt. Pour has a beautiful, thick head and a nice burnt orange color. On taste you get a really warming, perfect barley-wine like malt fullness followed up with very pleasant hop bitterness. So thick and creamy in the mouth... palate is absolutely perfect. | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 25, 2005 Bottled Dec. 29, 2004. Pours a cloudy burnt orange. Tan, thin, quickly disappearing head. Nose is sweetly hoppy with a light caramel and citrus quality. Initial alcohol burn is replaced by a warm sweetness, somewhat like brandied oranges. Traces of winter spices show as it warms. Suprisingly clean, crisp finish for a heavier beer. SO easy drinking! Be careful, all that alcohol will sneak up on you! An excellent barley wine. A Victory indeed! sisyphus12 (98), Belmont, Massachusetts, USA

This strong barely wine style beer has a pleasant if almost sappy and stout like initial bouquet. Once injested, the barely wine qualities of this beer become readily apparent. It is made for cold winter nights jrmac (213), USA

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Apr 4, 2006 Pours a clear dark red mahogany with an enormous foamy tan head. The lacing sticks to the glass and clings for dear life. Tons of fruit flavor. Aroma is dark fruit, but not overpowering. As for taste: I immediately thought cherry vanilla backed by a variety of citrus. Maybe even hints of chocolate, and certainly maple syrup. The sweetness is by no means overpowering and is well balanced by hops, which lend to a pleasant bitterness. Finish is hops with a hint of those fruit candies that come in the round tins (your grandmother probably had them). Palate is certainly a bit syrupy, and it’ll stick to your lips a little bit after it’s done. A very smooth, small, soft, and gentle carbonation. Overall this is a very good, very well balanced barleywine. fakepurseninja (790), Washington, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Feb 4, 2009 Screw verticals. Big caramel sweetness with with strong dark fruit and citrus character. Hops really shine in a fantastic barleywine - the full bodied sweetness it countered with huge piney, floral hop presence that bathes the palate in hop resins and oils. This will have you laying horizontal in a hurry if you are not careful.
