Nice sweet aroma of alcohol and light hops. Flavor is great, big malty sweet backbone with a touch of hops, rounded out with a nice alcoholic note. Deceptively smooth for an 11%er. This is fine stuff. VAYankee (248), Virginia, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Dec 12, 2003 Rich red-amber coloring with short-lived offwhite head. Strong hoppy aroma, complemented by a sweet fruitiness. Tastes of sweet malt(accented by fruit and honey and alcohol) with an alcoholic hop finish. Mouthfeel is a bit syrupy(slick but sticky). Excellent - one of the best barley wines available. 1FastSTi (2560), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA

Clear amber/brown body with visible carbonation. Excellent lacing. The aroma is very hoppy. Citrus and malts. Maris Otter malts? The flavor is a nice malt. Also Maris Otter? Nice zesty citrus hops and oranges. Spices. The palate is creamy, the 11% is hidden well, medium body. Nice feel. This is a really good barleywine. Very recommended. puzzl (2621), New York, New York, USA

Aroma is hoppy, roasty, very nice, with a little coffee and malt. Pour has a beautiful, thick head and a nice burnt orange color. On taste you get a really warming, perfect barley-wine like malt fullness followed up with very pleasant hop bitterness. So thick and creamy in the mouth... palate is absolutely perfect. | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 25, 2005 Bottled Dec. 29, 2004. Pours a cloudy burnt orange. Tan, thin, quickly disappearing head. Nose is sweetly hoppy with a light caramel and citrus quality. Initial alcohol burn is replaced by a warm sweetness, somewhat like brandied oranges. Traces of winter spices show as it warms. Suprisingly clean, crisp finish for a heavier beer. SO easy drinking! Be careful, all that alcohol will sneak up on you! An excellent barley wine. A Victory indeed! sisyphus12 (98), Belmont, Massachusetts, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Mar 16, 2006 What an enjoyable beer. This strong barely wine style beer has a pleasant if almost sappy and stout like initial bouquet. Once injested, the barely wine qualities of this beer become readily apparent. It is made for cold winter nights jrmac (213), USA
