Commercial Description:
Luxuriously rich in character, this warming winter ale delivers over 10% alcohol in an oh-so-seductive manner. Deliciously fruity flavors lie under a bracing hop nose.

Deep amber colour. Aroma is of hops, caramel and alcohol. Flavour is very smooth, toffee, caramel and warming. Finishes with a nice warming alcohol bitterness. Thanks ciderguy.

Nice head with lots of lace on the side of the glass. Aroma and flavor full of chocolate and toffee with a mildly bitter finish. Alcohol not terribly aparent. An excellent beer.

2002 bottle. Translucent brownish-red color, very smooth on the palate. Hints of raisin, dark rum, plum. Nice hop presence towards the finish.

Somewhat hoppy. Brown in color and translucent. Taste the hops, bubblegum or candy, and some fruit and spice throughout. Possibly a slight floral taste as well. Not as strong tasting in the alcohol department as I would have expected. Powerful nonetheless. Definitely worth trying and recommended to barley fans.

RERATE: Vintage: Bottled on Jan 06 01. Clouded rust. Small tan head. Nose is more creamy rich malt now than hops, however, the hop profile is still there, albeit diminished. Toffee, citrus fruits, cotton candy, alcohol, and hints of honey. WOW! Taste is mostly caramel, sweet creamy malts, strong sugary notes, alcohol and mild hoppiness. Body is surprisingly mellow and leaning towards syrupy. Light alcohol warmth and a mild lingering stickiness. Finishes with light alcohol and hops followed by more toffee, sugar and creamy malts. I REALLY liked this but it seems to be hitting its peak even though it’s only 4 years old.

Bright red-orange. Beige head w/ fine, wispy bubbles. Intensely hoppy aroma--citrus, pine, & fresh dew--w/ lovely malt undertones & alcohol spiciness. Feel is thick, oily, sticky & resiny. Complex flavour that is fruity, malty, & brilliantly hoppy. Very long, bitter finish. My kind of beer!

Pours into the glass with a beautiful red body topped by a medium thick off white head that leaves a good amount of lace behind. Slightly sweet malty aroma with fruity accents and a good hoppy notes. Sweet malty flavor with fruity accents and slight alcohol notes. The finish is bitter and hoppy. Full bodied, tingly on the tongue and warming. A great barleywine.

Clear blood-orange body, luscious tight velvety off-white head. Great looking beer. Aroma of spiced, poached pears/apricots, moderate woody hops, and organic earthiness. Very pleasing and well-integrated bitterness. Terrific balance to this barley wine. Reminds me of Dominion Millenium.

Complex, well-rounded aroma - pear, dark cherries, raisins, peppery spiciness, and rich malt. Ruby-orange-amber in color, thin wispy head. Flavor lacks some of the complexity of that aroma, but is very well-balanced between malt and spicy hop bitterness. Mouthfeel is smooth and full, with some slight warming in the belly, but overall the alcohol is well hidden. Quite a nice barley wine - the complex aroma and outstanding balance really make this one stand out.
