In the mold of the best, dryest, bitter German Pilsners, this is premium, top shelf lager, gentlemen. Deserves its reputation.
Note to California raters: after about 10 'second' chances, I officially declare Beverages and More utterly incompetent in the matter of storing beer. Nearly all the beers I buy there have a peculiar melonish infection that completely ruins the flavor. They'll let you trade it for another six, but why bother - that one will be infected too! Use them for their terrific liquor selection, but find a new purveyor of beer. That is all. jah noth (1020), Rochester, New York, USA

Though Pilseners are generally the last beer I’d try at a brewpub, this one scores points with me. mwsf (360), San Francisco, California, USA

Huge frothy white head that lasts ’til the last drop. Quite bitter, crisp, clean, spicy, malty, hoppy flavor. Medium body. As first, I thought this was overhopped but by the bottom of the glass, the strong hop bitterness, flavor, and aroma had grown on me. This is a damn fine beer. heykevin (1269), Iowa City, Iowa, USA

Makes me pine for the time I’ve spent in the Czech Republic, beers in the store for 10-15 cents a bottle and 50 cents in the bar. Oh well, I’d fork out the cash for this beer any day. Pity it isn’t distruibuted in Iowa. omhper (12245), Stockholm, Sweden

Big white head, firm body and a suitably bitter finish. beerbukkake1956 (4), New York, USA does not count | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 5, 2002 The number of wines I have sampled is greater than the number of beers reviewed by the three most prolific raters on this site combined. I’m fairly new to beer, but I know what to look for in an alcoholic beverage. The first beer I recommend to friends is the Prima Pils. Even the staunchest Bud/Corona/Phlegm fan can instantly recognize that this is a quality brew that goes far beyond what one expects of a Pilsner, yet it is not an oddball brew. With decent body and a head that can only be described as ridiculous, this can easily fill the bill for one’s standard brew. Victory may well be America’s best overall brewery.
