Commercial Description:
From the tradition started by the monks of St. Francis of Paula in 1634 comes this warming beer of rich heritage. A dark, rich lager of sublime complexity and character, St. Victorious is created from multiple German malts. Laborious decoction mashing yields the choicest elements of the malt. Long, cold aging mellows the strong temperament of this subtle beer. Celebrate the end of winter with a warming draft of St. Victorious Doppelbock!

Bottle. Pours a foggy reddish brown with a nice brown head that retreats to the edges quickly. Clean, fresh aroma with dark fruit, hinted sweetness, and floral subtleties. Really nice, but needs to be bigger. Taste has brown sugar, light spices, more dark fruit. Slight oxidation. Finishes clean with some woodiness. Texture of this beer was thick but soft and forgiving. Well done, and I don’t even like the style much.

Bottled. Dark umber color beige head. Nice lacing. Malt and dark fruit nose, light hop character. Sweet roast malt flavor balanced with dark fruit (raisins, black cherry) undertones of floral hops. Very smooth and drinkable.

12 oz. bottle shared by Alraomon. Thanks Sean! Pours a cranberry color with a thin tan head. Very wheaty dark fruit aroma. Taste is bitter hops, bread, raisin, toffee and caramel. Full bodied, smooth and slightly tart.

Poured a nice brown color with an off hwite head. Aroma was roasted malts, dark fruits and a little nutty. Flavor was a bit more fruity than the aroma covered up with nice roasty malts. The alcohol comes through a little bit

Bottle. Clear dark burgundy with a moderate head dissapating to a thin film with decent lacing. Aroma is toasty malt, caramel, and some fruit. Not a strong aroma but complex and interesting. Flavor is sweet with a mild bitterness towards the end and some fruit notes. Smooth, medium bodied, very drinkable.

12 oz bottle; Easy drinkin’, baby. I must say I find it impossible to believe it’s almost 8 percent. Tremendous aroma with many components. Dark brown color, clear, leaving a small light tan head. Somewhat sweet and malty taste. Medium to light in body, leaving a pleasant aftertaste.
