Bottle. Pours black with a full milk chocolate colored head. Initial sense of hops with a nice chocolate/coffee backdrop. Not as thick as some stouts but does leave good lacing.

Dec 31, 2009 Bottle at the White Horse, Parsons Green, 15th Oct 09. Pitch black with a line of cream head. Flavoursome - lots of bitter chocolate & caramel. Smooth palate and a fine aftertaste that lingers just the right amount. Great balance between bitterness and rich malt.

Dec 29, 2009 extremely opaque, black color. decent head that lingers in a small stripe, leaving a bit of lacing on the glass. Decent mouthfeel, in between watery and creamy. Powerful hop aroma, as well as what I felt were hints of fruit, perhaps traditional hefeweizen notes? Tastes like it smells, very complex and quite hoppy. In my limited experience, this is the hoppiest stout I’ve ever tasted. As with most beers, I feel that the hops overpower other flavors, and the traditional coffee/chocolate/etc. stout taste is lost in a black hoppy sea. Not my favorite, but a complex experience; I can definitely see why it’s so highly rated.

Dec 29, 2009 Pours almost solid black with a thin oily brown head. Aroma- chocolate, vanilla, roast coffee bean. Taste of dark chocolate bitterness and thick roast malt to balance. Somewhat of a hop bite finish. Very nice.

Dec 27, 2009 Great beer. Serious beer. Brewmaster has taken to heart the whole idea behind Imperial Stout. It is this beer. Poured with a nice sized tan head and good lace. Color is an opaque dark brown to almost black. Aroma is interesting; malty, roasty, good hop, yeast, old cheese, dark ripe fruit,& burnt sugar. Flavor’s much the same except I really pick up the alcohol, mmm maybe more in the warmth than the flavor. Body is there, but not too heavy and certainly not light. Finish is all that flavor and booze and not too long. Couldn’t really see it as a session although it sure is good.

Dec 27, 2009 Poured opaque black, with tan head. Nose is coffee. Taste is chocolate and coffee with bitter hops rounding it out. Nicely balanced. Delicious.

Dec 27, 2009 Bottle. Brown black colour with a tan head. Aroma is dry, coffe, roasted, malt, alcohol, chocolate. Flavour is dry , roasted malt, coffee, alcohol, chocolate. Full body. well balanced nice beer.

Dec 24, 2009 Fabulous beer. Inky black, tan head with nice lacing. Full-bodied malty aroma. The flavor at first is remarkably light but the follow through is an almost explosive roasted flavor that really lingers, each sip a sensation. Wish I had more!

Dec 23, 2009 Pours a deep, oily black with little to no head. Complex, smoky aroma. Flavors include some chocolate, coffee, burned grain, smoke. Very bitter finish. Very glad to have the chance to try one.
