Commercial Description:
A swirling dynamo of flavor, with a steady calm of satisfaction at its heart, that's Whirlwind Witbier. Offering a tamed tempest of flavors both spicy and sublime, this softly fermented ale greets the nose and tingles the tongue. Imported Belgian yeast charges Whirlwind with an energy all its own. It is a refreshing interpretation of the classic, Belgian 'white beer' style.

Tap @ Westside Brewing Company, NYC. Pours that classic hazy gold color with a quickly-dissipating white head. Aroma is wheat, coriander, lemon zest, and orange peel, with slight malt detectable as well. Taste is largely the same, with wheat, vanilla, and banana up front dissolving into the coriander and citrus characteristics. Palate was not overly strong, and there was a slight hint of water on the back of the tongue. Overall, it’s a smooth and quite solid offering.

12 oz bottle courtesy of Thaichile. Pour is slightly hazed yellow golden with a one inch white head that falls quick. Aroma of wheat, spice, orange and yeastiness. Nice full Wit nose. Taste is the wheat and clove spiciness primarily, with only a bit of citrus lingering behind. The citrus is more lemon than orange in the taste, slight sourness which is nice. I also picked up some soapiness midway through. Palate is medium-thin, with a bit of the soapy spiciness lingering in the aftertaste. Clean, crisp and thirst quenching. Thanks for this one, Mark!

12 oz bottle from John’s Grocery (Iowa City, IA). Last of the Iowa stock. Pours a nice golden highly hazed hue with a lot of floaties and a small white head that dissipates very quickly. Aromas are prominent, slightly spicy belgian yeast, orange zest, and a large coriander feel. Initial is similar, mirroring orange and coriander and spice, with some extra wheat tastes and and some slight bitterness on the front end from the citrus. Refreshing, light bodied, and very good for these months. Aftertaste is remarkable. A good wit.

Some of my friends did not care for this brew, but I found it to be very refreshing and crisp, with an finish that is hard to describe, but is really tasty. Also, living in the Philadelphia suburbs, I like to support local breweries.

An opaque golden hue topped by a thin white head, pronounced citrus elements are great for summer, clean finish.

Cloudy pale yellow, thin white head. Fruity, wheaty, spicy aroma. Flavor is spicy, with a touch of melon. Clean, crisp finish. Tasty, if fairly uncomplicated.

Very different flavor for a summer ale. Much more spicy than the normal plain summer stuff that most put out. Honestly it tasted like a VERY weak version of the Golden Monkey

This pours a pee yellow color and sort of smells like play-dough. I don’t have much kind to say about it as I don’t really think it was a great Wit. It was creamy and watery at the same time. It had a strong citrus aspect, which it should but at least the one I had did not work well.
