Commercial Description:
A swirling dynamo of flavor, with a steady calm of satisfaction at its heart, that's Whirlwind Witbier. Offering a tamed tempest of flavors both spicy and sublime, this softly fermented ale greets the nose and tingles the tongue. Imported Belgian yeast charges Whirlwind with an energy all its own. It is a refreshing interpretation of the classic, Belgian 'white beer' style.

Pale, semi cloudy and muted pale yellow. A foamy, sudsy white head fizzles down to a minute bubble sheaf. Cloves and a buttery lemon-lime concoction come to call, aromatically speaking. It’s a pungently sweet serenade that could be mistaken for lemon-lime Alka Seltzer. Some earthy vanilla and corn husks are able to somewhat smooth it out. Aside from the clove wafts, the aroma causes setback. Lickspittle lemon, coriander and clover flavor contributions register first and foremost. Tiny peppered and a dry spice bite give sustenance to the otherwise light body. Lime rind in a carbonated limeade summer refresher, and then diluted lemon and lime juice drizzled over whole grain oats and corn flakes. Granted, any breakfast with a Victory beer is a blessing, but this one lags slightly behind the other seasonal offerings. Partially delivers but comes up short of bready and biscuit arraignments. Clover, lemon sprits, lemon chiffon cream cheese danishes and a smidgeon of dry coriander leave a brisk, titillating aftertaste.

Bottle (12oz). Pale yellow, bubbly, hazy with a smallish foamy white head. Interesting aroma, like scorched straw, black pepper, coriander, dry herbal hops, good God, is this smokey? Taste is very grainy, muted spice, honeyish sweet malt emerging through, the hop character is very flat and dry, herbal bitter - no smoke in the taste. Mouthfeel is light but appropriate body, somewhat flat, slightly sticky and astringent in the finish. Very nice.

Bottle. Pours a hazy straw color with a small white head. Aroma is really nice--a lot of spiciness: coriander, some clove (surprising), orange/citrus, and a hint of malty sweetness. Body is medium light...frankly, a little thicker than I expected. Starts with a nice malty sweetness and thing finishes with a tingle of spiciness and carbonation. There’s a definite tartness in the finish. There’s almost a candi sugar flavor in here, similar to what you get in a tripel. There’s little bit of oxidation noticeable in the finish. Overall, a very nice beer. I really like the complexity. Seems to have some elements of a hefe and some of a tripel. Very good.

12 oz bottle-Poured a hazy/cloudy yellow color w/a creamy white head which faded quickly. Complex aroma, typical fruity/citrus white aroma, but also has a sweet vanilla/ grassy aroma. Starts off with a light sweet flavor but than you taste some spices kick in, kind of tangy. Long creamy finish. Has a lot going on for a white-it’s kind of "rough around the edges", not as fruity as some whites. A little different.

Light golden pour with a small white head. Aroma is dry and spicy with some lemon. Medium to light bodied beer with soft light carbonation. Taste starts out with a creamy citrus character, but not in a sweet or rich way. Finish is tart and spicy. Very nice interpretation of the style.

Pretty good, my bottle was a little flat for a wit. Usual fruity orange notes of a witbier. Just a slight vegetal aftertaste that I didn’t quite like, but not strong enough to detract a lot from the overall experience.

Nice refreshing drink for an unnaturally warm day in May in Chicago. Pouring a hazy, pale straw body with a fizzy white head, it’s got an aroma of wheat, orange, yeast, and a light spiciness. Soft in the mouth yet lighlty lively with carbonation. It tastes of wheat, orange, a dash of lemon, coriander, and light non-citric fruits. Nice.

12oz bottle. Best before date of 101406. Hazy straw golden hue. White spotty head. Citrus and floral nose. Sterile aroma with a touch of orange zest and a wheaty yeast nose. Fruity esters. Lively and carbonated. 7up note. Wheaty and bubblegummy. Average wit.
