Commercial Description:
A swirling dynamo of flavor, with a steady calm of satisfaction at its heart, that's Whirlwind Witbier. Offering a tamed tempest of flavors both spicy and sublime, this softly fermented ale greets the nose and tingles the tongue. Imported Belgian yeast charges Whirlwind with an energy all its own. It is a refreshing interpretation of the classic, Belgian 'white beer' style.

(12 oz bottle: Obtained in trade with Eyedrinkale, thanks Mike!) This is a pretty straightforward American-made witbier. It’s certainly pleasant enough, but a bit light on the flavor. Mild lemon citrus, a hint of coriander and light sweetness, but the minimally bitter orange peel seems to contribute the most to the flavor. I occasionally pick up a trace of vanilla, but that just sounds too odd to be true. Light coriander in the nose, with orange citrus in the background. Light bodied, gently carbonated and refreshing on the palate, but it’s perhaps a tad thin in the finish. Medium yellow color and very hazy, with some chunky sediment settling out after a few minutes. Small, white head dissipates quickly and completely, leaving no lacing behind as proof it ever existed. Pleasant and very well balanced, but not enough flavor and it ultimately fails to separate itself from the pack. Disappointing for a Victory product.

Bottled on 8/29/05. Pour a hazy, swirly pale golden with a short-lived white head. Aroma was of wheaty yeast, bananas, cloves, and a hint of orange zest. Everything from the aroma made the flavor.. but with more force and goodness. Carbonation is ideal to keep the flavors moving and to provide a sparkly accent to the wheat notes. Spicy, wheaty finish. Very refreshing!

Bottle. Cloudy light golden color with a typical quickly diminishing head. Banana and clove are the main aromas here. Smells like a hefe. Tastes like a hefe. But with a little more. A lightly hopped finish with a a spicy orange flavor. Better than average. Wouldn’t expect anything less from Victory, since they are one of the better brewers out there.

"Poured an cloudy white colored beer with not much head which didn’t last long. Had a very nice aroma with fruit winning over the malts. Low carbonation. Very sweet flavor, more then one of these would be toooooo much. Beer taste better as it warms"

hazy light gold color with a moderate head, well carbonated for the style, spicy clove nose with a great clove/banana flavor. lighter body but nicely balanced. typical for the style, above average palate in my opinion. great classic example of the style, maybe a little consevative for the style but overall...nice.

Hazy golden wit with a creamy collapsing white head. light wheat, cloves and honey aroma. In mouth, watery bananas with notes of cloves, and herbs. Rather thin bodied, not creamy. Not bad but a bit restrained. The bottle is about a year old.

Poured an effervescent golden with a fizzy white head. Aroma of candy, sharp grass, touch of cloves. Taste is fairly bland cinnamon, banana, cloves... not as full as I would like. Average body.
