Commercial Description:
A swirling dynamo of flavor, with a steady calm of satisfaction at its heart, that's Whirlwind Witbier. Offering a tamed tempest of flavors both spicy and sublime, this softly fermented ale greets the nose and tingles the tongue. Imported Belgian yeast charges Whirlwind with an energy all its own. It is a refreshing interpretation of the classic, Belgian 'white beer' style.

Another amazing, feel-good-to-be-alive offering from the beer gods at Victory Brewing Company. Indeed, this is a swirling dynamo of flavor: some lemon, some orange zest, vanilla, clove, green tea. What a perfectly balanced, subdued Witbier! Highly aromatic... like a field of wheat blowing in the breeze on a warm late summers day. Yeasty and tingly on the finish. Terrific!

Yellow body with virtually no head. Aroma is very interesting. Banana bread, orange, coriander, and some earthy undertones. The mouthfeel is what I’d expect from a Witbier. Smooth at first and then the bite. The flavor, much like the aroma is complex. Banana, bubblegum, coriander, and some malt. Finishes quite clean. This is a very good summer beer that really doesn’t fit into the category of a summer beer. More like a spring white ale or even a year-rounder.

Pours a hazy murky amber with a one finger frothy white head. The nose was very funky, earthy, some orange peel, spice, lemongrass. The flavor was very spicy and peppery, wheaty, orange, crisp, some lemongrass. The palate was crisp and a bit bubbly. Overall not too bad.

Tap @ Westside Brewing Company, NYC. Pours that classic hazy gold color with a quickly-dissipating white head. Aroma is wheat, coriander, lemon zest, and orange peel, with slight malt detectable as well. Taste is largely the same, with wheat, vanilla, and banana up front dissolving into the coriander and citrus characteristics. Palate was not overly strong, and there was a slight hint of water on the back of the tongue. Overall, it’s a smooth and quite solid offering.

12 oz bottle courtesy of Thaichile. Pour is slightly hazed yellow golden with a one inch white head that falls quick. Aroma of wheat, spice, orange and yeastiness. Nice full Wit nose. Taste is the wheat and clove spiciness primarily, with only a bit of citrus lingering behind. The citrus is more lemon than orange in the taste, slight sourness which is nice. I also picked up some soapiness midway through. Palate is medium-thin, with a bit of the soapy spiciness lingering in the aftertaste. Clean, crisp and thirst quenching. Thanks for this one, Mark!

12 oz bottle from John’s Grocery (Iowa City, IA). Last of the Iowa stock. Pours a nice golden highly hazed hue with a lot of floaties and a small white head that dissipates very quickly. Aromas are prominent, slightly spicy belgian yeast, orange zest, and a large coriander feel. Initial is similar, mirroring orange and coriander and spice, with some extra wheat tastes and and some slight bitterness on the front end from the citrus. Refreshing, light bodied, and very good for these months. Aftertaste is remarkable. A good wit.
