Commercial Description:
Bold, spicy, menacingly delicious HopDevil takes on an entirely new dimension when subjected to a wild yeast fermentation. A sharp, sourish edge has been added by this fermentations that plays into the caramel sweet malt deliciously and creates complex interplay with citrus accented hops.

The aroma is sour and funky with urinal cake, plastic, barnyard, yeast, grass, and cheese. The appearance is amber with a huge head. The flavor is like the aroma. The palate is smooth but thin. Overall not very good but I guess it’s supposed to be like this.

Beautiful hazed amber body, rich caramel hued, and a voluminous billowing soft white head. Complex nose with charred wood and floral spice with. Immediate spice upfront. Sharp brett fruit character with on-top of caramel malt. Musty earth notes with a creamy mouthfeel that finishes with light resinous pine. Very enjoyable.

Bottle... Poured hazy, golden/orange with a huge, bubbly, off-white head. Funky, dirty, horse blanket aromas. Rich flavors of tart fruits and a malty base. Almost like a tripel with citrus, banana, cloves and spices and the added lactic, funky yeast notes before a flakey bread-like, acidic finish. A good sourness but not too puckering.

750ml bottle with about 6 mos on it. The brett is comin out pretty well Pours with a tall creamy head on orange brown body. Lots of brett in the nose, specifically the cheesy strain of brett. Some floral hops and mango and ripe fruits. Tart fruit flavors on that cheesy brett. Bitter floral/herbal hops with the fruit and brett. The brett already seems pretty overwhelming. Solid beer, but I’d like the brett to complement more than overwhelm.

Pours golden orange with a light cream head. Nose and flavor are overly phenolic (burnt plastic and rubber) with some citrus. Need to try again to see if I had a bad bottle.

75cl bottle thanks to Guy411. Big frothy head over a hazy orange body. Fruity aroma with lots of citrus and dusty and leathery brett. Fruitiness seems to be almost equal parts hops and yeast in this case, with a definite grassy note from the hops, and an underlying honey-like malt sweetness. The flavor has a definitely IPA-like hop bitterness, but is softer than regular Hop Devil. Dry, but with a hint of honey malt and some herbal and citrus hop flavors. Very balanced with the yeast character, malt and hops. Medium-light bodied with plenty of carbonation, but soft in texture. Pretty damn good stuff, actually. I;m not sure what I was expecting, but this definitely owes some inspiration to Orval, which is a huge compliment coming from me. Hoppy, Bretty, pretty dry; this beer has style.
