| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 26, 2009 12 oz. bottle. Pours a clear deep reddish copper color with a large pillowy beige head that collapses into a blanket of fine bubbles and leavesthick lacing. The aroma is citrus and spicy hops with mild amounts of dark malt, caramel and honey. The more I swirl the glass provides additional pine notes. The flavor is more hop heavy with citrus and pine seeming to stand out. Bitterness is moderate with maybe not enough sweetness to balance things. The malt comes off as a secondary partner in this brew and is bready with caramel. Mouthfeel is medium-full, lingering bitterness with no sign of alcohol.
Light yeast, resin and some bready notes.
Rating #199 for this beer.

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 25, 2009 Bottle: The aroma consists of chocolate, roasted nuts, and lots of grapefruit and piney hops. It pours a very dark reddish-brown that is mostly transparent when held to the light along with a small off-white head that fades quickly to a thin film. The flavor starts with chocolate and faint caramel. The finish has moderate notes of roasted nuts along with pine and grapefruit hops. Medium bodied with mild carbonation . fsbw21086 (85), New Jersey, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 25, 2009 Very hoppy character. Aroma is of hops and pine. Complex beer that finishes sharp. Has a lot of character... grassy, roasted, pine, slight hint of caramel. Very hoppy IPA with alittle extra edge. hershiser2 (923), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 23, 2009 Don’t judge a beer by its label. Lable. Damn, they both look wrong. It must be all the beer I drunk. Drank? Shit. Thought this was going to be amber hop bomb, based on the... bottle. Pours dark frigging red brown with latte colored thick head. Nose is stinky sweet malt and hops. Stinks damnit. Taste is nice sharp malt and hops. Good spiciness. Wet sweet in mouth. Leaves gritty feel on palate. Hoppy and sweet, but with darkness behind. Interesting brew. Complex, but not amazing. Good beer. Whole is greater than sum of parts. travita (1952), Frisco, Texas, USA

Typical Victory house yeast character is apparent is this one. Good but not outstanding. Needs more hop aroma for what they are going for, try more dry hops or more late addition hops.
