| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 23, 2009 Don’t judge a beer by its label. Lable. Damn, they both look wrong. It must be all the beer I drunk. Drank? Shit. Thought this was going to be amber hop bomb, based on the... bottle. Pours dark frigging red brown with latte colored thick head. Nose is stinky sweet malt and hops. Stinks damnit. Taste is nice sharp malt and hops. Good spiciness. Wet sweet in mouth. Leaves gritty feel on palate. Hoppy and sweet, but with darkness behind. Interesting brew. Complex, but not amazing. Good beer. Whole is greater than sum of parts. travita (1952), Frisco, Texas, USA

The look is amber in color and has an ok off white head. the taste is bitterness, pine, caramel, and fruits. hopsandvines (9), Asheville, North Carolina, USA does not count | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 22, 2009 Like an American Style Barley Wine with less body, still rich and sticky with a lot of crystal malt and some Munich character, hops are there mostly in flavor and bitterness, but are not crisp or identifiable. Typical Victory house yeast character is apparent is this one. Good but not outstanding. Needs more hop aroma for what they are going for, try more dry hops or more late addition hops. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | Dec 22, 2009 Slammed this bastard from the bottle. Full body. Lots of bitterness upfront. Some pine needles and oranges and then WOAH. Holy alcohol. You can taste all 9%. Slammed a couple and felt good. blklab2007 (975), Connecticut, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 21, 2009 bottle poured with a mahogany color and a thick light brown head that retained a nice layer. aroma has both bitter and citrus hops, caramel, dark malt, and some nice resins. mouth feel is medium with a nice coating. flavor has a nice firm bitterness, sweet citrus hops, a good dark malted base, and some caramel sweetness. I can dig the hops they used in this one and it has a nice punch. MrBunn (1548), Western, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 21, 2009 Bottle. Pours a deep ruby brown with a nice two finger head and aromas of crisp lemon and pine, a little bit of soap and some caramel malt. Flavor is fairly decent as well... lots of pine and citrus throughout, but there is a bit of a soap and biting alcohol presence that gets you a bit. Don’t know if the hot alcohol will burn off with age, but this would be excellent if that were the case. gwpom (253), Akron, New York, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 21, 2009 Draught at the Pizza Plant. Dark brown with a firm white head, with a very hoppy flavor...not as hoppy as an IPA, but hoppier than a pale ale. Very smooth, nice and potent. Very nice beer. Tmoney99 (4779), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 20, 2009 Bottle from Root Cellar. Poured dark clear ruby copper color with a large frothy light brown head that lasted with good lacing. Good complex earthy hop and small malt aroma. Medium body with a slick texture and lively carbonation. Medium to heavy malty bitter flavor with a medium bittersweet finish with a small alcohol burn of moderate duration. This a very good complex brew.
