Gazza (720), Worcester, Worcestershire, England Oct 28, 2007 Bottle at Frankfurt Panchos, BsAs. A reasonable attempt at a strong bock, it actually tastes lagery and German to some degree! Quite sweet and rich in caramalt with lots of brown muscovado sugar flavours which slightly cloy the taste but the finish is dryer and it pulls through in the end to leave a good caramel, malt and molasses flavour. Not bad at all.
anders37 (2827), Malmö, Sweden Apr 2, 2007 Bottle. Pours a dark almost black color with a fast disappearing tan head. Sweet malty caramel aroma. Sweet malty caramel flavor with some hints of coffe and dark fruits. Sweet malty finish with lots of caramel in the aftertaste. omhper (10950), Stockholm, Sweden Dec 29, 2006 Bottled at Frankfurt, Buenos Aires. Looks beautiful - dark mahogany crowned by a majestic creamy head. Tastes sweet with a mix of coffee, toffee and spun sugar. Very soft with near full body. The caramelly sweetness gets a bit much. Low bitterness. Relying entirely upon caramelly malt it is a reasonably enjoyable beer, but the sweetness keeps it from becoming really good. Pours an opaque not-so-dark black color with a medium sized creamy yellow-beige head (4). Aroma is buttery and caramelly, some dried fruits and green apples (7/10). Taste is at first acrid, bittersweet, slightly alcoholic and with a slight sour tang to it, then it turns more to the malty side, deep and interesting (7/10). Mouthfeel is medium to thick, creamy and smooth. Amazingly drinkable for a beer 8% abv (4/5). Tastes more like a stout but it retains it´s lager crispness.
