[ Trade with Maria ]. Clear dark red brown color with a large, frothy, good lancing, mostly to fully lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate to light heavy malty, roasted, burnt, chocolate, coffee - mocca. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet and bitter with a long to average duration. Bitternes is malt burnt - chocolate / coffee bitter. Body is medium, texture is watery, carbonation is soft. (080608)

Jul 23, 2008 Bottle. Very dark brown with a medium sized off-white head. Nice roastedness with notes of malt, dark dried fruit, metal, grain and dark berries. Very well balanced.

May 27, 2008 Bottle at home - tasting. Dark dark brown - offwhite head. Roasted, red berries, dark bread, ryebread, sweetness, brown sugar. Very nice - a bit too sweet - needs some burned malts.

May 25, 2008 Pours a clear dark brown. Medium bitter and sweet with aromas of brown sugar and burnt caramel. Medium to low carboantion. Meidum bodied. Dry finish.

May 11, 2008 From tap at Vielanker Brauhaus. It’s very dark brown with a nice, creamy head. The aroma has notes of coffee and roasted malt - nice. The flavour has notes of coffee, roasted malt, a slightly dry citrussy bitterness, and the body is full and nice. It’s very porter like and doesn’t have the very pronounced sweetness that many German Schwartzbiers have. It’s one of the really good ones!
