kidwiththehair (45), Girdwood, Alaska, USA Nov 29, 2006 Updated: Dec 4, 2006 This beer has a nice color contrast with its golden amber pour and white head. For aroma, you can definately detect some hops, citrus flavors, and a strong oak type scent. Slightly acidic flavor with a slight bitter finish, but overall a pretty decently well-balanced brew.
detroiter (957), Euphoria, Minnesota, USA Feb 10, 2007 Pours a nice clear golden color with about an inch of creamy white foam. Minimal lacing. Hoppy aroma.
Piney hops dominate the flavor. Beyond that, it is fairly generic. The body is on the light side, but the carbonation is perfect. Light hop bitterness in the aftertaste.
muzzlehatch (4429), Burlington, USA Aug 23, 2006 5 oz draft sample at the brewpub, late July 2006. Dark amber with just a bit of lasting head, no appreciable lacing....citrus and apricot prominent in the nose, delicate floral spiciness....sweet and a touch syrupy/thick at the front changing to rather sour and tangy and a mite lactic at the finish....somewhat low carbonation doesn’t help matters. CharlesDarwin (1442), State College, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 24, 2006 Updated: Feb 10, 2006On tap at the Brewpub Pours a clear autumn gold, with a sticky white head. Buttery orange apricot aroma. Piquant. Flavor os bright crisp clean hop sugars and lime rind. Hopalicious, yet balanced and reformed. Not out of control. One of the overall hoppiest Pales Ales I’ve had in a while, but it has that lucious smooth saccharin sweetness that an IPA like AleSmith brings. Lucious and bright. Noticeable diacetyl brings it town a touch. beermatrix (1497), Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA Feb 17, 2005 On-tap at the brewpub: Light golden chill hazed hue with a smallish white capping of fluffy froth. Lace is minimal in spots.
Aroma of slight twisted pine and citric sourness thats a bit light and missing a bigger hop edge and malt backing. Taste is clean and crisp with a nice pine sap hop mixed with a finely added citrus of orangy-lemon pith. A toasty middle smoothes off the citrus but it then returns again in the finishing areas to a decent bittering bite of orangey pine sap. Feel is crisp and full in the front, keeps smooth and drops off some after the intial bursts of flavors but maintains a creamy sweetened toasty malt and favorable hop bite thats very manageable and makes for one super nice session Pale. A Great drinker!
