| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 17, 2003 Rich dark brown color with a light tan head and an almost green sheen to it, which leaves a thin lace behind as it subsides. Thick hoppy caramel and bready malt, cherry aroma combine with an earthy chocolate maltiness and molasses. Sweet viscous malty body has a sugary sweetness and good dark malt complexity with a nice roasted chocolatey finish. It could use some more balance, but it seems to mesh together better about half way through the bottle. Nice fresh hop presence throughout. Hides its alcohol very well. Probably the best Wisconsin barleywine I've had. Cletus (5057), Connecticut, USA
