Small sized beige foamy head. Aroma is soap and urinal. Thin body. Some roasty malts but lots of off flavors. Will re-rate if I ever find another bottle of this stuff. Aroma of coco, chocolate, maple syrup, and dark fruits. The taste was the same with bitter sweet notes. Chocolatey finish. Become oily on the palte as it warms. GG (1652), NorCal, California, USA
| 1.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 4/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 6/20 | May 7, 2007 Either I got a really, really bad bottle of this stuff or these guys just can’t make beer. An aroma of urine, soap, charcoal and coffee. Appearance was pitch black. Mouthfeel was watery. Flavor were soapy, sewer-like wet charcoal with some underlying roast character. Just an awful beer. | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Apr 22, 2007 Found this one bottled in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. Beautiful pour, pronounced bitter chocolate nose, extrordinarily bitter throughout. A bit alcoholic in the end but still excellent. adrian910ss (1434), philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA

Pours a very dark brown color, hovering on black, with a rather large brownish beige frosty head. Aroma of dutch chocolate, roasted malts and faint molasses. Taste is slightly sweet yet smooth dutch chocolate flavor with hints of creamy milk chocolate and slight roasted malts. Very creamy and smooth. Excellent !! | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 21, 2007 Picked up single bottle from Blue Max in Burnsville, MN. Pours a dark cola brown brew with a thick and heavy tan head. Head leaved a mild lacing. Aroma has coffee, milk chocolate, walnuts and a touch of molasses. Flavor is dark dutch coffee, some chocolate, and roasted malt. Palate is sticky and thick. Finish is smooth and then a bitter aftertaste. The flavor has to me one of the most "Sybil" (ie: multi personalities) Imperial Stouts I’ve encountered.
