22oz bottle thanks Styles. Pours black as black can get with a thin off white head. Aroma is funky with dark fruit roast, molasses, ashtray yes ashtray, and hop bitterness. Very complex and unique aroma. Flavor was bitter and sour to sweet. with a malty body and molasses dominating throughout. Not much in the finish but thats what makes this beer great.

impervious to light, thin light brown head. aroma is dominated by coffee and cocoa. flavor is cocoa, coffee, mild alcohol with a fair amount of hop bitterness. the beer is "hot". mucho cocoa in the finish. tongue numbing to say the least. this is the viking I was waiting for and it didn’t disappoint.

2004 bomber. Enjoyed on the evening of Edward’s (brooklynboy) surprise tasting alongside 25 other highly rated stouts. Onto the beer: One of the more amazing stouts that should be rated much higher. I remember having this last time with FFF Dark Lord 05 and preferring this one. Again, Viking proved itself worthy of much praise on the night it stood side by side with just about every stout rated above 3.95 on this site. Ageing is the way to go with this one. Very floral on the nose, a bit of sweetness, some green apple and pear notes, and a lucious roasted note. Rather chewy in a desirable way. More vanilla and molasses on the palate. A fine and enduring finish.

Poured Very deep and dark brown - black. Almost, shit, No head. Very vinous aroma, dark fruit, chocolate. Flavor is all over. Dark chocolate cream with wine and port, almost wood. Mouth feel was light for an Impy. But the alcohol is there, not in taste but definitely in the warming and nose. This was very enjoyable. wonder how it would age? 12oz bottle via trade with Duane - Thanks Duane!

12oz bottle via trade with Duane - Thanks Duane! - Pours black with a short mocha head that fades quickly but laces with what remains. Aroma of milk chocolate, coffee, and a bit of dark fruits. Flavor is rich milch chocolate, some coffee, and a bit of raisin. Mouthfeel is smooth and creamy. Aroma is much stronger than the flavor. The flavor is dominated by milk chocolate. Could definitely benefit from a bit more body and malt.

The body is black with a light brown head. This leaves a lot of lacing on the glass. The aroma has some rich chocolate, coffee and some pancake syrup. The taste is dank with coffee and chocolate. There are also notes of anise and some light tobacco. There is definitely a lot of dark chocolate. A nicely done and well balanced Impy stout. The body is a little sticky, but thin for the style. Thanks for the bottle, Duane.

thanks to kms399 for the 4 pack as part of a recent trade. a bit unusual for an Imperial Stout. aroma of pears, raisins & some prunes. almost full-bodied with a slight acidic feel to it. flavors of the aforementioned fruits, some dark roast malt &hints of bittersweet chocolate & coffee. not bad, it just didn’t quite come together for me.

Bottle provided by Styles at the Kuhnhenn Brewing gathering. Sweet adn somewhat soured flavor. Sharp coffee adn roaste grain flaovr prevail throughout. Lots of esters. Good beer, but would have guessed a porter to baltic porter.
