| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 2, 2005 Looks like coca-cola when poured. Head fades to a ring of bubbles. Aroma a little weak, only some dark malt and faint coffee. Flavor is all coffee up front with some malty sweetness through the middle. Just doesn’t come together well. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 12, 2005 Dark. Smells of bright fruit, apple and pear, some raisin, not at all imperial stout-esque. Sweet, get a big of smoky roast in the flavor. Dry, somewhat hoppy, a bit of alcohol. tiggmtl (4311), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 12, 2005 Hazelnut, chocolate, roasted malts, orange and tropical fruitiness and strong alcohol in the aroma. Opaque brown/black with low but lasting cover of tan head. Sticky, well-balanced roasty bitterness offsets sugary sweetness. Notes of herbal, green and orange hops. Nutty roastiness and and sweetness continue to battle in the after taste. Medium-full body with strong but gentle carbonation that keeps all that sweetness from cloying. Bottle (2004 vintage) enjoyed with MartinT, Olivier_MTL and Rastacouere. jasonp (1513), Sterling/Dulles, Virginia, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 11, 2005 Dark brown with ruby edges and a beige head. The aroma is pure apple and pear. Flavor has notes of roasted malt, chocolate, some coffee, apple and an alcohol presence. Somewhat of pleasantly burnt finish. Medium body with very lively carbonation. Good head retention. A very nice beer. TheBeerGod (3169), Newport News, Virginia, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 11, 2005 Bottle, courtesy of MilkmanDan. Dark brown to near black body. Nose is rife with pears and apples. It’s the most pleasant smelling imperial stout I’ve ever experienced. No roasted notes, chocolate, etc. just fruit. Taste has big apple notes, roasted malts, light coffee, and some other fruitiness thrown in for flavor. Rather enjoyable! Body is swarming with alcohol notes and is creamy and somewhat smooth. Finishes with fruits, light coffee, cocoa, and roasted malt. Some more of the alcohol invades here as well. Nice!
