Well, add Imperial Stout to that list. A very dark, malty, and molasses taste are immediately noticeable. The finish is surprisingly crisp and fine; it doesn’t wear out its welcome. A nice treat. Thanks, robertsreality! Sham (1846), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 12, 2005 Black with a tan head and good lace. Grape juice in the nose with some chocolate and coconut. Odd. Bitter, alcohol filled flavors. Roast malts and chocolate with some yeast. Chalky palate that finishes bitter and fruity. Oakes (8139), Kowloon, Hong Kong
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Mar 10, 2005 Very dark brown colour. The aroma is chocolatey. Flavour is chocolatey as well, but also slightly hot, with a hint of roasty acidity coming in late. Roast character is mild and unconvincing. Oh well, it seems popular enough - just not for me. The flavor is lightly sweet with creamy notes & a more robust finish than most. BeerPrince (1701), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

Aroma is heavily vinous with lots of plum and green grapes. Flavor is richly roasty and chocolatey with some plum notes. Hops kick in at the end for a slightly dry bitter finish. Nice balance. Big head that rises above a clear ruby tinged brew that doesn’t quite go to a complete blackout.
Aroma is a bit weak. Sweet with a touch of sourness at the finish. Needs a little more intensity if it wants to run with the big boys. wunderbier (1271), Tampere, Finland
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 7, 2005 Lots of molasses, alcohol, and chocolate…hot chocolate even. Deep brown-black. Very sweet and a bit cloying. Medium thick, stick texture, soft carbonation. The bottom line is: Standard and simple. Thanks Em! Alcoholist (570), Peoria, Illinois, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 27, 2005 Thick and sark with a thin tan head. Aroma is sweet and salty. Flavour is salty, chocolate malts, caramel and coffee with a bitter finish. Dry and bitter in the finish. A good imperial stout, not a great one.
