20080315 12oz bottle shared with dmac621, thanks to Adrian. Pretty darn dark with a looong lasting beige head. Aroma is standard impy stout with lots of chocolate, dark malts, and boozy late. Flavor is bright and fruity, showcasing tart cherry highlights and vanilla tinged wood notes. Lingering roasted bitterness is all but overcome by pleasant sweetness. Reminds of a lightly burnt oatmeal cookie.

12 oz bottle from adrian910ss, thanks Adrian. Pours a near black with slight lighter colored brownish/red edges an average size tan head and some visible sediment floating about. Aroma is rather sweet for an Impy stout. Notes of chocolate, cocconut, rum soaked bread, and dark fruit. Medium bodied with a slick feel and very light carbonation. flavor has an initial roastiness about it that turns into a dark sweetness of rotting fruit. mild chocolate notes, dark bread and alcohol. An unconventional Impy Stout that is really nice and not just your run of the mill burnt, roasted, toasted, coffee, tar, tobacco monster.

Bottle (12oz). Courtesy of Ughsmash. Near-opaque ruby-black with a massive lasting tight foamy light brown head. Dry roast aroma, dry herbal hop bitterness, plenty of lactic tartness, prunes and hints of chocolate cherry, medium alcohol; solid. Very well balanced flavour - alcohol, herbal/mint hops, cherry and raisins, molasses and a hint of dark chocolate - long finish, quite ear-warming. Only a medium thick body, but a tad oily, alcohol and tartness are the main mouthfeel - as well as solid but not obnoxious liveliness. This is really damned good - I know since it’s an imperial stout I"m supposed to rate it under 3 because it’s full of flaws my peon palate can’t detect, but I’m a simple soul, I loved it and will dare to rate the way I FEEL LIKE RATING IT.

Bottle from boboski. Poured with an out of control ridiculous sized brown head, that was rocky, pillowy, persistent, a pain in the neck to drink through once the pour was completed over like 15mins (and after sucking up a ton of foam long the way). The body was deep dark brown (not a pure pitch black). The aroma was coffee and sweet dark fruits, slight metallic notes. The flavor was chocolate, faint coffee, metal, plenty of dark fruits (raisins, prunes), molasses, licorice, and light caramel. Roasty bitter, oxidized, astringent, and sweet at the same time. The mouthfeel was full and malty. Thanksk, Jason!

Decent sized milky brown head of fine bubbles. Sweet malts, milk chocoalte and some ripe fruit. Slight sourness in the aroma that mingles with the fruit. Color is essentially black with some brown around the edges. Sweet and malty flavor. Litlte bit of molasses, some roasted grains and nice smooth chocolate and plum flavors. Silky smooth in the mouth. Alcohol presence is noted but does not dominate at all. Finishes roasty and sweet. Actually very sweet. A decent impy but a little on the sweet side. Could have used some hops to balance it out a bit.

12 oz bottle. Dark brown with a dense, lasting beige head. Nose of vanilla, coffee, currants and wood. Sweet with a spritz, creamy and coating. Coffee with honey, orange and dates. Light grapefruit provides some contrast but still close to cloying.
