andyhwcinc (30), Illinois, USA Sep 28, 2009 Not a very good pilsner, it’s surprisingly malty with a hint of citrus that sticks to the back of your throat. Would not recommend. hellbilly (1492), scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA Sep 9, 2009 orange gold shade of yellow with a few bubbles for a head.
smells really grainy... watered down wort... and it has some strange stuff going on... orange, florals, honey, straw, cooked caramel cream and soured butter. odd, but the whole nose is rather muted.
there is a faint pils note in the flavor but it is a stretch... floral again, honey, iced tea and a very mild bitterness on the finish. some vanilla (or perhaps the butter again) shows up in the aftertaste.
medium bodied. almost sudsy carbonation... almost. crisp but not satisfying...5/3/5/3/11/2.7
thegreenrooster (1811), St.louis, Missouri, USA Aug 15, 2009 Pour is a cloudy yellow with almost no head. Aroma is a barley there pale malt. Flavor is also some pale malts but hops are no where in the picture. Reminds me of a eastern euro lager. Nothing really good about this one as everything is just too bland. beastiefan2k (1590), Lawrence (formely NYC), Kansas, USA Jun 7, 2009 I am not sure exactly what makes a pilsner "Northern" but if it s cidery aroma than they nailed it. Flavor losses the cider notes and has a flat flavored (not carbonation, which could actually be stronger) pilsner flavor, stale white bread with some mineral at the end. Some faint, non-citric lemon as well in there. Not sure how old this bottle is but it was kept in the fridge of the store where I purchased it. 12oz bottle, Selin’s Grove anniversary goblet. noncaloric (601), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Feb 12, 2009 Updated: Mar 8, 2009Effervescent amber with a smallish white head that nonetheless leaves abundant lace. Faint aroma. Flavor is grassy hops and a lightly sweet oatmealy wort. Slight cider edge. Medium body, smooth palate. IlanMan (816), Appleton, Wisconsin, USA Jan 30, 2009 Light to medium golden pour. Light hop aroma with a little bit of fruit and hops in the finish. Smooth. nuplastikk (1157), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Jan 14, 2009 12oz shorty bottle. Murky orange brown color...not really blonde. Sweet malty aroma. Light and watery, easy drinking. Faint citrus flavor and wheat/rye taste gives it a balanced crispness. Very minimal hop presence. Nothing great, but a decent session beer. esjaygee (1467), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA Nov 29, 2008 Cloudy dark yellow with a thin white head that laces nicely. Aroma of toasted malt, grain and a mild touch of skunk. Taste of mild lemon, malt, light hops. Drinkable quaff with a nice toasted hop finish.
