Pours a hazy straw-amber with about an inch of foamy head. Decent lacing throughout the glass. Aroma strongly of ginger and some coriander, however, there is an odd soapy scent as well. First I am struck by the spice, which I really like. Lots of ginger. Some peppery/coriander spice as well. Following that, some heat from the ginger in the aftertaste. Then I am struck by the thin body. I don’t think it has the oomph to stand up to powerful food, but I haven’t confirmed this. I think that with a little more body this would be a very fine beer.

$1.59 for a single at Blue Max. Faint aroma, soft texture, tart and tastes like the lemon and ginger topped chicken I had in India, which was cheap and excellent, but I’d rather not have my beer taste anything like that. Difficult to finish, certainly never had a beer like this and won’t be buying it again.

From a twist off 12 oz. bottle with no freshness date, but also with "Unpasteurized, Keep Cool!," in right corner of label. Poured a cloudy bright yellowish orange with a frothy, foamy white head that settled into a thin sudsy lacing, small amount of laced sticking. Aromas of sweet ginger, a sour citrus and a spicy wheat. Good carbonation and a crisp, creamy smooth light bodied mouthfeel. Different tasting, I don’t know if its the result of the active carbonation, but the ginger has a sweet soda taste to me, lemon and orange zesty in a background sour note, the coriander is very much part of the flavor, spicy with a soft wheat maltiness, and a dry, fizzy ginger, coriander and malty finish. This took me awhile to get use to unusual taste, the ginger winds up being too overbearing for my taste, but worth a try.

No matter how inconsistent the brewery’s beers are, they are spot on with the beer names. 12 oz. bottle poured a hazy, lighter golden with a medium cap of creamy white head. Nose was very spicy, with lemon pepper, cloves, ginger, and white pepper... fainy sour wheat is down there somewhere, but you have to get the nose way down in the glass. Flavor was spicy too, with sour lemon a dominant feature on the tongue... clove, coriander, ginger, and white pepper resonate outward from the tongue and the finish is of sour lemon and wheat. Zesty, spicy, and dry on the palate with litthe malt presence... refreshing.

12 oz bottle from Woodmans on Gammon Road in Madison (Oct 2006) imbibed from a Corsendonk glass at cellar temperature or so. Hazy gold with lots of bubbling, smooth snow-white cap that dies slowly....lemony, fairly spicy (ginger-coriander) aroma is quite sharp and fresh, but more reminiscent of soda than beer -- there isn’t really any malt character that I can detect....pretty much the same thing going on for the tongue, light and refreshing, fruity-zesty with touches of coriander and lime added, high but not really obtrusive carbonation, but just not enough like a beer, though some faint sour wheat and pale malt does evidence in the mouthfeel. Another mixed feeling from this brewer....

Large fluffy white head. Huge carbonation. Reduces slowly. Spicy lemon aroma with fresh cut grass and white pepper. Color is a bright gold. Very light and clean taste. White grapes, fruit and spices. Corriander and ginger very prominent. Dry and slightly chalky. Very dry finish with a bit of tartness. Little bit of a metallic aftertaste. A different wheat beer. Ok.

Bottle. Nose-weird artificial plastic like nose with notes of ginger. Taste-high CO2, lotion, corriander. Very soft with lots of ginger and corriander. Not horrible, but not enjoyable.

Lemony, wheat aroma. Big white head, dense on a hazy yellow body. Ginger note is particularly strong, with flavors suggesting "supplements" as if to a Smoothie concoction. Coriander, some cheesiness, lots of spice. It went well with fresh raspberries. I rather enjoyed this one, one of Viking’s better beers.
