| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Dec 28, 2003 Pours a darker golden color with a thin whispy white head. Sweet candy-like, light caramel malt aroma. Body has a nice thickness and balance to it, but is more "sugary" than malty. Finishes lightly sticky, but refreshing. A decent bock. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 1, 2005 Bronze color with a modest light ecru head. LIght brown sugar, floral hops and fresh apple aromas. Flavors of sweet light caramels, very sticky bun like. A very light helles bock. Not quite a bock, to dark for a dort, to sweet for an alt. Sort of a mix of them all. muzzlehatch (4427), Burlington, Vermont, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jan 22, 2006 12 oz bottle, from Blue Max in Burnsville, MN (Dec 2005). Cellar temperature in an Allagash glass. Warm, ruddy amber color, slightly hazy-oily, with smallish lasting white soupy head....really, really faint nose at first offers a touch of caramel and dry herbs....somewhat more success in the flavor, though there isn’t anything spectacular going on here; some decent caramel sweetness to the toasty malt, barest hint of smoky bitterness towards the finish....fairly substantial, lightly syrupy body does dry out a bit again....overall effect is drinkable, smooth and simple with little real character. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Mar 27, 2005 Tasted at the ’Tosa gathering and provided by JPDipso, 12 oz bottle: Deep golden hue with a thin fizzy head and good lace. The aroma has notes of candy caramel apples, honeycomb, floral hops, and faint peppery qualities. The taste starts fruity and malty with a touch of earthy and sublime spice upon the finish. A refreshing Bock but not a whole lot of depth. The feel is a bit syrupy and soft, drier than expected finish. Strangely different and overall a nice brew that became more enjoyable as I drank it. Worthy of a try. Skyview (4097), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 2, 2007 Updated: May 6, 2007Picked up a single bottle at the Fiddlers Inn in downtown Dallas, WI. Straight across the street from the Viking brewery. Pours a hazy dark amber brew with a white head. Dissolves quickly and leaves behind a nice lacing. Aroma contains some grassy scents, stale citrus, vanilla, grape brandy, and a touch of sour apples. Taste is a little bit semi-sweet with a citrus after taste. A little sweet for a dunkler bock. It has character more like a Heller Bock. Bottle was a little on the cold side and from a cooler rack close to fluorescent lighting. Ughsmash (4091), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jul 31, 2006 12 oz bottle. Poured a clear medium orange with a short white head and light particulate suspended in there. The aroma was of very sweet caramel, hints of tangerine, and some autumny, leafy hops. Flavor was very, very sweet... not sure exactly what was in there.. maybe mildly-smoked caramel.. sour lemon.. sourdough bread.. didn’t gel. Sweet on the palate with sour notes around... adequate carbonation... too sweet. badgerben (3610), Blaine, Minnesota, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 8, 2004 Copper color with no head. Some malt and caramel present in the aroma. The taste was just a touch strange... I know it’s malt, but not quite the malt I’d expect in a bock, if that helps. A little sugar.
