(12oz bottle) Medium beige head atop a clear dark brown-red body. Aroma is medium sweet, caramel, some cherry, light roast. Taste is medium sweet, sour cherry, chocolate, light caramel. Undercarbonated, watery light-medium body, some stickiness.

12oz bottle acquired in trade with Brigadier (thanks!). Poured a dark brown color with a small sized off white head. Aromas of caramel, chocolate, and roast. Thinner and somewhat watered down tastes of caramel and roast. Had a light salty and sour finish.

Bottle... Clear, ruby lager with a small, fizzy, khaki head. Decent retention. Buttery, malty nose with caramel, cocoa and cinnamon. Lots of diacetyl. Tart, tangy flavor with good balance. Mostly bland, but tangy enough to hold my interest. Light-bodied and almost imperceptibly oily with gentle carbonation. Milldy pungent finish. Maybe infected, but not at all unpleasant. Kudos to MilkmanDan for sharing his bottle!

Pours a nearly opaque dark brown with a thin, frothy and nicely-lacing tan head. Aroma has some graininess to it and decent German lager yeast profile. Body starts very thin, even for the style with some subtle maltiness, but not much sweetness, toward a slightly drier earthy roasted finish. Bland and needs a little more body and sweetness.

Inconspicious beige head over hazy dark brown beer with red highlights. Sweet bready nose, and lots of milk- and dark chocolate. Then freshly made coffee, former aromas proving very volatile. Soft sweet, chocolatey flavour. Sweetish malts, colourmalts giving a very low-key bitterness. Warming up, a certain spicy flavour appears, alas under recognition treshold. Light to medium bodied, lots of grist slickness. Sweet. Not uninteresting, but still too sweet for my preferences, too worts- or tablebeer-like. Thanks, DA!

LIght chestnut color with a modest light tan head. Darker toasted malts mix with mild dark fruit and some herbal hops. Somewhat earthy in scent. Light roasted flavors with mild wild flower honey and caramel. Finish has some dry roast flavors with some earth and wood. A touch metalic in the linger. Seems more like a dark amber.

12 ounce bottle from Blue Max in Burnsville, MN (June 2007) served a bit below cellar temperature from a Hair of the Dog glass. Near-opaque black with a smallish diminishing off-white head, no lacing....pretty pleasant roasty-chocolaty aroma, faint peaty qualities, somewhat undone by a bit of diacetyl butteriness....the body is smooth and a bit thin, light roasted grains at the forefront, a bit of chocolatiness, but towards the finish sour grapy-cherry notes creep in, not welcome and unfortunately strong enough to pretty well ruin the experience; sour milk is also evident, though it dies away in the aftertaste....low carbonation, lightly syrupy. Mmm, no, I don’t think so.

Beer #200 for me. Picked a bottle from Blue Max in Burnsville, MN. Pours a cola caramel color brew with a tan head. Aroma of light caramel, tasted grain, some cherry and sweet lactose. Flavor is like milk chocolate with some spiced coffee aftertaste. A little bit on the watery finish but pretty clean cut and crisp.
