The pour is hazy copper with a huge head. I had no problem with flatness on this one. Aroma of hopcit, malt, some fruit. The taste was hoppy, with some mid-palate floral fruitiness and finishing citrus. Lively, medium to light palate. TheEnemy (422), Chicago, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Oct 2, 2005 Another flat beer from Viking -- something I’d seen complained about but had never encountered until now.
<P>Pours copper orange with just a slight hint of cloudiness and precious little carbonation & head that still somehow manages to ring the glass all the way to the bottom. Bitter and floral hop aroma with an ever slight hint of citrus/grapefruit -- much more subtle than your average in-your-face American-brewed IPA. It has an excellent basic flavor -- bitter, floral, slightly citrusy, nice subdued malt balance, and all accomplished without the erstwhile obligatory, obnoxious Cascade Kick in the Ass™. Definitely done more to the traditional British style. Unfortunately, the thin body and watery palate sabotage what could have been an excellent IPA. BeerAteHer (384), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA
| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 1/5 | 7/20 | Aug 21, 2005 Another poorly carbonated beer from Viking. Nothing approaching the actual style, this is more a flat malt based brew. Some hops make it through, but only in spurts which alternate with the beer’s fruity elements. The commercial description indicates less hopping -- could it be this is a "naked" IPA, the way it would taste if other breweries held back on the hops? In any case, aroma is peachy-malty with some hops, and not that bad. Color is an ok deep amber, and there is little head (not to be expected anyways at this low carbonation level). Cloying fruit finish. Victoria should stick to lingerie. BitterPoet (55), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA
| 1.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 3/5 | 2/10 | 1/5 | 4/20 | Jul 22, 2005 Purchased at Muddy Pig. The smell made me check the style. "IPA? This ain’t no stinkin’ IPA!" The taste?
1/2 Schell’s Pale Ale
1/2 Water
It was so bad I begged the server to let me trade it for something else, which I did. Bubblejack IPA. Now THAT’S an IPA.
Another bland beer from Viking. Pigfoot (2226), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA

Nice looking beer, cast in a bold, deep peachy hue, with a fine layer of suds that slims down rather quickly.
Aroma is fairly vacant...mild hops, with nothing standing out, and no promise of anything more...the barest hint of grapefruit, citrus rind, sweet, and just a tiny whiff of bitterness. disappointing, for an IPA.
in the taste, the tongue is not given a fresh jolt, nor delivered much flavor at all. Sweet and sour fruit swims about the palate, but no truly distinct taste takes hold. Far too mild to even be called an IPA for we of the HopHead variety...I’m not even talking lip-blistering hoppiness, I’m just looking for any!
Medium-bodied, dull, dried-up finish, a milquetoast type of sweet, but boring, fruit (cherries, berries, apricot, melon) pervade...no joy found in this bottle, but may please the unadventurous out there, if they can be pried away from their Leinenkugel’s.

| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Sep 8, 2004 Light copper color with a full head. Citrus offerings in the nose, but for some reason I seemed to smell mint. Not exactly what I’m looking for in my IPA. The taste was strange. The hops made it taste more like a Pils than an IPA. It did seem a bit flat as others have stated. Not my favorite from Viking by a mile. heykevin (1269), Iowa City, Iowa, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Aug 26, 2004 Sourish aroma with some dusty and musty hops, goldings? Flattish (I too didn’t get much pfffft on opening) Palate is rather watery, some caramel notes. Not particularly bitter or long on hop flavor. Not Viking’s best offering by a long shot.
