It should be noted my 4 month old hand bottle of Dark Knight had more of a head that this--cloudy orange with one cluster of bubbles and some white webbing, if you could even go that far. If I get past the intense burnt plastic aroma, there are some smoked malts. However, that burnt plastic is dominating with some hairspray. Smoke is much more present in the flavor. Unfortunately, so is the hairspray astringency and burnt plastic. Bitterness peaked at a 3. Burps burnt plastic. A faint tingle of carbonation on the tongue with a thin body. This is bad. I hate this beer. buckybeer (666), Eau Claire, Wisconsin, USA

Aroma and flavor was not good. Seemed sour and burnt plastic. Body was thin and it seemed as though they put a couple drops of liquid smoke in it and called it a day. Time to have a Big Swede. | 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Oct 1, 2007 12 ounce bottle. Shaker glass. Yellow with a thin head. Aroma -- wood smoke and grain. There was a faint note of charcoal or wook smoke with maybe a touch of bitterness. The rest was just a pale lager in disguise. Not much here.

| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Aug 3, 2007 Clear golden pour. Thin white head, pretty good retention. Beechwood smoked malt rises from a toasty grain base. Notes of smoking meat, orange blossoms and wet wood. Not offensive, not the least bit interesting either. Flavor is higly sweet, mildly to moderately smoky, lightly acidic. Not bad, though once again it’s not very good either. Too sweet, from first sip to last swallow. Finishes lightly smoky, meaty and acidic and stale. The mouthfeel is modestly carbonated, watery. 1FastSTi (2590), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Jul 31, 2007 Pours to a brassy golden body with lots of suspended small particulate and a medium slick white head. The aroma is lagery with lots of beechwood smoked malt. Comes of a bit meaty at times. The flavor is tart beechwood smoked malt. Tart/sour up front, not noticeable on the finish. The palate is tart up front and finishes minerally and dry. Tartness is out of place. BDR (2170), Roseville, Minnesota, USA
| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Jul 26, 2007 Dark honey colored beer with ample white head. Sedement floating around in a visible mass, leading met to believe this bottle is infected. Nice smoked wood on the nose with a bitterness and an aroma I associate with bacteria cultures. Body has a bitter sour character with some harsh tones but the smoke does push through. I think this would be a very nice beer if it weren’t for the infection.
