Here’s an underappreciated beer, I think. A light lager with a subtle meaty smokiness - it would be very easy to F this up, but it’s flawless. Good delicate maltiness, fleeting hints of smoke. I enjoyed this more than the Aecht Schlenkerla I rated recently.

Cloudy orange, with a thin white head. Aroma is fruity, with just the mere-ist hint of smoke. Flavor is also rather fruity, and again just a hint of smoke to compliment it. This is the least smokey smoked beer I’ve ever had. Notes of pear, pine, pepper, too. The smoke flavor compliments but does not overpower. Thanks to JK for the trade.

Dark amber color, small off white head that had a decent hang time then faded slowly to leave a sligth bit of a lace behind. The aroma was lightly malty with a hint of caramel and some faint smokiness. The flavor was not too bad, mildly malty with some hints of fruit and the smoke was a bit under done for my taste, and a sligthhint of hops in the end.I guess over all it’s not the worst but when i want a smoked brew i think i’ll go for the schlenkerla over this brew.

I had never had a rauch beer before, and had never even heard of the style before! I bought this when i found out it is brewed by a family in WI, and im from WI, so it all makes sense. Im not a huge fan of the smokiness of this style, but it was drinkable for me. Smells like a campfire, which is good!

12oz version. Poured very slowly and the glass was still 90% off-white head and 10% hazy amber beer. Sweet malty aroma. Smoke is there but pretty mild. A lot less than I like in my rauch beers. Malty flavor with a mild tartness and light smoke in the tail. Semi-dry with a CO2 bite.

No real head to speak of. Light carbonation. Light smoked aroma with some weak malts and roastyness. Dark golden orange in color. Light smokyness in the flavor. Almost seems like it has a little pepper in there also. Weak flavor besides the smoke. Thin body and palate. Little bit of bitterness. Finish is watery and weak with a light lingering smoke. Not a very good smoked brew.

lightly hazy, golden color, white head. a little toffee in the nose, not that much smoke. flavor is lightly hopped, with mild smoke flavors...the way I prefer a rauch. interesting enough.

Bottle: Courtesy of robertsreality via trade. Woody smoke flavor with light apple. Pours a hazy reddish-orange with a moderate white head that lasts a minute or so. Fruity apple flavors up front with a strong woody and smokey finish. Smoke just doesn’t blend well with the apple and fruit flavors up front and really throws thinks off.
