hellbilly (1502), scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA Sep 2, 2009 coppery amber color with a white head.
initial aroma of buttery caramel followed by a solvent-like aroma which kinda reminds me of fresh watermelon rinds.
the flavor is more of the same... toss in some chocolate, grain and some burnt plastic notes. the solvent flavor dissipates as it sits but never disappears.
on the plus side, the medium body is creamy and very soft... but not sudsy?
this is weird and flawed. needs a re-rate.3/3/3/4/5/1.8 esjaygee (1467), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA Apr 26, 2009 Clear amber with a thin white head. Aroma of Munich malt, caramel and mild skunk. Taste of toasted Munich malt and a touch of caramel. Pretty bland stuff. IlanMan (816), Appleton, Wisconsin, USA Jan 30, 2009 Light golden pour. Had a biscuity aroma. Light sourness in the flavor with some light sweetness. Low hop character. nuplastikk (1161), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Jan 15, 2009 12oz shorty bottle. Murky, dark orange-brown color. Mild sweet aroma. The taste is all malt, very sweet. with a minimal soapy hop balance. Low carbonation, rather dull mouthfeel. The medium dark malt and lager tastes are interesting enough, and the interplay between them makes for a pretty decent beer, but it just the mouthfeel is a little too subdued. I’m sure this is much better on tap fresh. kmeves (1080), Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin, USA Dec 10, 2008 Pours a deep amber color with a very smallish head. Aroma is very sweet with caramel and sugary bubblegum. Flavor is really more of the same. Very thick mouthfeel, medium carbonation. This would have been a drain pour but my wife opted to finish it. I doubt I will try any more Viking beers. BeerBelcher (930), Columbus, Ohio, USA Nov 18, 2008
This beer pours a rich amber color with very little head and its appearance was not very reassuring as it did not promise me a very pleasant beer experience in my near future. Quite syrupy looking. Aroma was caramel and copper. Flavor is so carmel-y as to be cereal-y with some other off notes I could not quite identify. Mouthfeel is tremendously (too) thick. Struck me as being quite like a bock I wouldn’t like.
I would not recommend this beer, which I bought at Three Cellars in Franklin, WI. Ungstrup (14754), Frederiksberg, Denmark Apr 22, 2008 Bottled. A hazy amber beer with a lazing light tan head. The aroma is sweet malty combined with fruity notes. The flavor is sweet combined with an acidity and primary notes of over ripe fruits. yespr (11645), Copenhagen O, Denmark Sep 21, 2007 12 fl oz bottle. Pours hazy orange with a lacing white head. Malty aroma, slight spiced. Flavour is acidic and bitter. Infected :(
