Well, I guess I had been introduced to Viking Brewery with their best offerings because this is yet another recent disappointment. Cloudy brown under an almost imperceptible head. The aroma remided me of a breakfast malt cereal. Wheat was evident as was a milk chocolate note or two. Bananas Foster comes to mind, too. But all that didn’t translate into an interesting flavor. The end result was a taste of powdered chocolate not very pleasing.

It was dark amber in color with a spare diminishing head. It was very smooth and balanced. Nice texture. Malty taste with hints of chocholate.

Muddy dark brown slight hints of wheat. Syrupy and a weak for the body. Does not leave much for the palate or aftertaste

Hazy oxidized copper and chestnut color with a modest light tan head. Very heavy aromas with wheat, and sorghum, dark corn syrup - has a profile of burning malt-o-meal on the stove top. A hint of bourbon vanilla sneaks in late. Smooth, but quite thick on the palate. Cocoa and wheat flavors mingle. Fairly simple, an odd concoction of creme de cocoa and wheat beer. I don’t find it objectionable, but it doesn’t ring many bells either. More chocolate in the finish. A long malty linger helps this one out. I really need to get to New Zealand and slug a few down.

Cloudy dark bronze in color with a grey and fizzy head, which looks like a National Geographic close-up on one of Jupiter’s spots. Aroma is whole wheat bread right out of the toaster, chocolate covered bananas, nutmeg and cloves. Flavor is unsweetened, dried banana chips, cocoa powder, vanilla extract and anise. Alcohol seems to be - strangely - discernable. Carbonation exchanges blows with the chocolate malt funk. Something’s just not right here - chocolate malts knock out everything else. Finish is chocolate bubblegum that transitions to a fudgesickle aftertaste. Fair effort, nothing more.

Bottle. Hazy brown body under a fantastic fluffy off-white head. Smells like Wheaties with a peanut-oil touch. The nuttyness takes a front seat in the flavor while yeasty wheat bread and apricot come along for the ride. Light hoppy bitterness and oxidation in the finish. A nice beer, the fruit and nuts are tasty.

Slight is the word of choice for this beer. A slight aroma of malt comes off the beer, but nothing really noticeable. Color is a slightly dark orange-red, slightly cloudy. A fair amount of tastes, all of them slight. Coffee, banana, melon, toffee, bread dough, tea leaves, grass, and oh...maybe some citrus. It’s hard to tell, as I’m only getting the slightest of faint hints to the tastes. They’re all jumbled up in the intial taste, but then instead of evolving into a sustained, comprehensive flavor, the taste cuts out, leaving me to wonder "what happened to that beer I was drinking?". The aftertaste is pretty much stale water. Consistency is slightly watery, though it has a slight creamy texture (which is slightly pleasant, really). I saw great things in the first sip, but then it all went down hill from there.

This is a fantastic beer. Pours a deep amber with a nice sized tan head. Very pretty. Aroma is of toffee and dark fruits. This beer is full of toffee and (light) coffee flavors. Tastes slightly honeyed to me. Not much hop character. I like this beer quite a bit.
