Bottle 12 fl.oz.
Clear dark red brown color with a large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, beige to light brown head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, caramel, coffee, milk - cream. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is watery, carbonation is soft. (130608)

bottle by way of stine... pours impenetrable to light a dark brown color capped by a creamy/frothy-ish cocoa head with orange tints. smells good... cream/lactose, wood, coffee, chocolate and ash. the taste is spot on to the aroma with a tingly spicy finish coming from hops. big coffee aftertaste. light to medium body... seems a bit watery. insanely creamy carbonation through the first few sips. as it sits it seems to de-carbonate completely and become flat and lifeless. 7/4/7/2/12/3.2

smells like oily butterscotch flavored coffee beans, lactic sourness and must. much fresher than the first time around. medium bodied with proper carbonation.7/3/7/3/14/3.4

Pours out black with a tan head that stays pretty well and leaves nice lacing throughout the glass. Smell is a bit chocolatey and roasty, but it has a very light smell to it. Taste starts out light, but quickly hits you with a light chocolate and coffee-like flavors. Mouthfeel is just so smooth and rich with a heavier than medium body and real light carbonation on the tongue. Another excellent beer from the folks at Viking; you’ve found yourselves a new customer!

12oz bottle, no date. Whole Stein--Holstein? Cows? Ha. Deep mahogany with a 1/2 finger tan head that faded to a ring rather quickly. Roasted malts and lactose up front with a bit of chocolate and nuts in the background. Flavor had kind of a light pine and roast bitterness that worked well with the lactose. The finish was semi-dry and turned pretty ashy rather quickly. Smooth medium body with almost no carbonation at all. Actually, this wasn’t too terrible of an offering, coming from Viking.

Bottle. Clear brown coloured with a small beige head. Aroma of coffee with roasted notes and notes of milk (lactose and lactic acid). Light roasted flavour of coffee, chocolate, liquorice and yeqast. Roasted finish. Fizzy palate.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Courtesy of boboski. Hazy reddish brown with a frothy and lively light brown head. Aroma of hard roasted malt and vanilla. Medium body with sweetish, hard roasted malt, some coffee and a malt bitter finish. The lively head made me fear the worst, but this brew came out rather nicely. 130608

12 fl oz bottle. Pours hazy and dense brown/black with a lacing tan head. Mild roasted malt aroma with a light chocolate note. Flavour is smooth chocolate, roasted malt with a faint smoke note and a light acidity lurking through. Ends dry and mild smoked.

12 oz bottle from unclejedi - thanks! Deep, dark brown with a humongous brown head - took like 15 minutes to pour into my Surly pint glass. Sweet chocolate nose, a small coffee note, oats smell a bit off. Fairly light coffee and milk chocolate flavor, a mild bitterness. Mildly dry bitter chocolate finish. The big minus here is the body - far too thin. A bit of earth shows up late. OK.
