Jun 20, 2004 Draft at Fest: Deep brown hue with reddish highlights. Frothy off-white head and no lace. This had a weak nose with hints of toasted and crystal malts, boysenberry, coffee, earthy yeast esters, and grassy hops. The taste was bittersweet mocha with coffee and smoky undertones. Not much depth and had an mineral off-taste. The feel was metallic and fizzy. Less than average, not imperial tasting. My first Arkansas beer and maybe my last.

Oct 30, 2007 GABF 2007: Poured a black color with a small tan head. Coffee, alcohol, esters, and sweet doughy notes make up the aroma. The flavor was sweet and roasty with some dry cocoa. Smooth mouthfeel and a medium body. Light alcohol on the finish.

Nov 17, 2008 Draught at GABF 2008. Black - brown head. Bourbon, vanilla, coconut, wood, burned, roasted, berries, full bodies, coffee, chocolate. Lovely - but it needs some power.

Feb 24, 2006 Draught. Pours opaque jet black with a small tan rocky head and lined lacing. Aroma is yeast (leather, sweat) and caramel dark roasted malt, coffee and molasses. Dark fruit (prune, plum) flavor, port and dark roasted caramel malt (cookie), medium sweetness and no bitterness, acidity. Dark bodied and smooth palate.

Oct 21, 2006 GABF 2006. Alas, Arkansas has been done!!! Body is an abyss black. Nose is chocolate notes, roasted malts, light anise and dark fruits. Taste is chocolate more roasty notes, dark fruits, light sugared coffee, and burnt brownies. Body is medium with mild carbonation. Finishes with more chocolate, sweet and roasty malts, and burnt chocolate cake.

Oct 29, 2008 GABF 2008. Black oily pour. Heavy dense mouthfeel with pipe tobacco, chocolate, coffee, cedar, prunes, and a long bitter finish. Excellent.
