courtesy of Degarth - hazy copper coloured without foam; shy aroma of caramel, nuts and ripe apples; low carbonation and quite flat malt body; some sweetness and a hint of sourness; an interesting earthy touch shows for in a short finish - don’t ask too much while sampling a beer from a new country...

Pours amber with a creamy white head. Smells of sweet malt, some spice, roses, hints of caramel, touches of earthiness, doughy. Tastes nutty with some sweet malt, some yeasty hints, touches of spice. Finish yields a nice lasting sweetness.

Trade with Degarth Bright amber colour, very little head, light foam. Somewhat fresh-smelling, sweet caramel aroma, light iron. The body is light with a slight sweetness towards the middle. The caramel fades into a hoppiness that barely exists. At least it’s slightly clean tasting.

Recently visited St. Thomas and got the chance to sample this beer. Hard to give it a true rating... I mean I could have been drinking Bud and would have loved it. Matter of fact I did have a bud that day :-) Something about being on some island, in the sun and away from work that makes all things better. Blackbeard Ale - Amber/copper colored, quite smooth with a definite maltiness to it. Slight hopiness with caramel mixed in there. Good overall beer that could possibly use a little extra kick to it. Easy to drink.

This is the last of the reviews from this batch of old notes. I’ve got others, but those beers are retired and not in the database, so I’ll file those away someplace - and probably forget them again! Anyway, this beer I received as a gift from someone who travelled to the Caribbean, wish I could remember who. Unfortunately, I didn’t write it down. Pours a clear dark orange/brown with an off-white head. Light aroma of caramel. Flavor is also caramel with just a little sweetness. Some hops bitterness at the finish.
