Commercial Description:

Bottle. Pours a hazy, dark brown with a big light brown head (after it had stopped gushing a good deal of the content out on my table). Weird aroma; smoked but with an off-note which I can best describe as dusty play-doh (without being sure that that’s what it is). As it warms the notes turns a bit more in the direction of a dry whisky, but I still can’t shake the play-doh feeling. Flavour is sweet and malty with lots of smoked whiskey notes. I like the whiskey part, but the smoked part isn’t that inspiring, as it feels a lot like cigarette buds – especially in the finish. As it warms the sweetness is turned up, and becomes a tad cloying; notes of dark fruits also appear. Lingering cigarette-grassy notes in the finish. Way too much carbonation. Overall it feels like the beer doesn’t know in which direction it wants to go; a lot of different notes are just thrown in there in a big pile, and they don’t complement each other very well. I guess it could work, but not in this beer. And seriously – cigarette-like smoked notes are just not they way to go in my book. 17-11-09.

Bottle @ Bakken. Pours dark brown with a small creamy head. Lots of caramel, fruit and liquorice. Sweet taste. Overall lots of flavor for a 5,8% beer. Reminds me of a light Quad. Smooth and well balanced.

Bottled. Dark brown coloured. Huge brown head eksploding out of the bottle. Aroma of light caramel. roast, light chocolate, sweetness and some coffeeish notes. Flavour is smooth and rounded. Fruits, caramel, chocolate, light herbs and again some sweetness. Medium to full bodied. Quite dry. Nice light roasted bitterness in the end. Quite good in my book.
