Big brown yeast flakes at the bottom of a turbid, firmly sparkling, (very) light amber liquid with a golden shine when held to light. I subtract a point for the rather unconvincing head. Hoppy aroma with some earthiness. Basically sweetish flavour, whereupon sharp hoppiness and blueberry notes are built. Medium bodied. The hoppiness gets a bit more pronounced if accompanied by Vlaskaas (cheese). I just read a suggestion it would be relabeled Kappitel Blond (?). Anyway, I agree with lachesis that it loses charm on warming up. Papsoe (15103), Frederiksberg, Denmark

Pronounced yeasty nose with lots of diacetyl too. Sweetnes cut of by a rather harsh bitterness. Bottle fermented and very typical Belgian. "Vlas" or "Lin" means linseed and I’m wondering if it’s actually in the beer. The label shows harvesting of linseed. 010305 lachesis (759), St Idesbald, Belgium
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | May 11, 2005 Faint hazy warm-blond beer with and nice creamy head. It has a sweet pils like aroma with hints of flowers and fresh fruits. taste is light sweet with some maltyness and touches of flowers and pollen. Pallet is sweet and on the watery side. whin its served very cold it is Ok, whin its warming up it has a boring taste. Ernest (4501), Boulder, Colorado, USA

Head is initially large, frothy, white, mostly lasting.
Body is hazy medium yellow, bottle conditioned.
Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), moderately hoppy (flowers, lemon), lightly yeasty (cobwebs), with a note of coriander.
Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly sweet, moderately acidic, moderately bitter.
Light to medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation.
Mouthfeel is kind of disappointing, but otherwise this was both pleasantly aromatic and nicely balanced. A summer quaffer kinda thing, but not bland. rauchbier (3003), Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, England

Strange mix of hops and yeasty phenols in the nose along with a trace of soap. Soft and slightly tinny in the mouth with some grainy sweetness and a tingle of hops. Remains sweet and becomes gently spiced towards the end. A gift from Joris at the Kerstbierfestival.

Milky and pear with just a hint of toffee. Not the best Van Eecke can offer. caesar (3034), Bunnik/Utrecht, Netherlands

Aroma is very yeasty, bit fruity of citrus, bit spicy of coriander. Spicy and yeasty taste, sweet, dry and bitter. Slightly sticky palate. JorisPPattyn (5192), Antwerpen, Belgium
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 22, 2004 Hazy orange with yellow-greenish shine, peach-like; fluffy yellowish head. Citrussy nose, a bit of vanillapap, somewhat soapy finish. Dash of coriander - or saffron!? Quite dry, spicey taste - this time definitely coriander. Idly wondering if this might have actually linseed in it? Yeasty, nearly meaty notes as well. Finish has a tad acidity. Dry, but at the same time creamy MF & texture; only medium bodied. The saffron nose is interesting - as might be the linseed question. The rest much less. Decent summer ale, I’d say.
