JorisPPattyn (4262), Antwerpen, Belgium Feb 18, 2004 (Draught) Deep dark brown; slim rim of darkish foam. Woody nose, alcoholic, and some faint undefinable spices. Sweet taste with molasses but with an herbal flavour touch. Thyme? Light MF surprising for the style. Yet syrupy texture, and heavily carbonated on the verge of fizzy, despite the little head. The alcohol comes out of hiding. A deceptive beer - it starts hiding its strength and its filling capacities. I had to go slow on this one.

Tart sourish flavours, good balancing caramel, though very dry. Outstanding. Papsoe (9980), Frederiksberg, Denmark Aug 2, 2008 (Bottle 75 cl) Courtesy of fonefan. Very hazy orangey brown with a tall and frothy off-white head. Lightly tart and fruity nose with a whiff of yeast. Medium body, a little low in carbonation with a smooth mouthfeel.
