Aug 15, 2008 Poured bright orangle/golden with 1.5" head. Appearance reminded me more of a hefe. Aroma contained hefe like scent of citrus and clove. Started to get excited until that first sip. Burnt fizzy dirt, with a hint of replusiveness. I taste the slight resemblance of hefe, but this one is getting dumped halfway. It’s always possible this sat on the shelf a little too long, but that may just be wishful thinking.

Aug 12, 2008 Just...not good. I really enjoyed the Cannonball Porter, but this one...just yuck. Stay Away. The earth backbone of the porter is replaced by grass juice in this one. Aroma is sirty sweat socks and it is very acidic on the palate. Thin and bitter and not at all my cup of tea. Seems like others here have enjoyed this, so maybe it is just me.

8/02/2008: Gangster Pale Ale pours a hazy yellow color with an average, off-white head. The aroma has a light citrus (i.e. sweet lemon, hint of orange and peach) and a honey sweetness. The flavor has a decent balance of pale malty sweetness, a hint of mango, and a soft, citrus peel bitterness, but overall it is fairly unremarkable and plain. It has an average body with prickly carbonation. Drinkable, but not terribly unique or rememorable.

Jun 10, 2008 Draft sample at Keg Fest. Poured clear golden color with an average frothy white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate malt & sour citrus hoppy aroma. Medium body. Medium bitter flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. My expectations where met.

Apr 29, 2008 12oz - Aroma of pale malts, straw and dry grass. Pours transparent copper with a small head and good lacing. Flavor matches aroma with a touch of hops and some lingering sweetness. Palate is crisp and clean. Drinkable, but nothing special.

Apr 10, 2008 Bottle (with a low fill line, I might add). A rush of crackery, slightly mildewy grassy funk coming out of the bottle on opening, but after the beer had been poured into a glass, the aroma settled into a more recognizable musty hop presence. Some citrus (orange) and week-old mango. Pours a pale amber-orange, calm with a scant white head. Taste is dry and very bitter, certainly approaching IPA levels, with a dry and slightly gritty finish. The sweaty, sweatsock-influenced pungency is actually appealing to me, perhaps reminding of other things. Smooth medium body finishes very dry with a lightly bitter dose of bread. I do think I’d have this again.
