A quick half before getting stuck into another pint of London Porter on our Fullers crawl. Dull amber looks. Funky hop aroma. Grassy hop taste with toffee malt for balance and an ok finish. Pretty uninspired overall though. May not have been in the best condition. fiulijn (7420), Como; Lausanne (CH); Malmö (SWE), Italy
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jan 12, 2009 Cask Conditioned at J.D. Wetherspoon - The Pommelers Rest, London Golden color; generous head. The aroma is lightly grassy, not particularly nice. It has the usual caramel flavor, grassy as well, light sweetness (which makes it easily drinkable) with a late astringency; in this case the grassy touch is not as pleasant as it’s usually in English Ales; correct bitterness, the final has some freshly cut wood too. Fruity taste with orange, mandarin, biscuity malt and a bittersweet finish with hints of orange marmalade and citrussy hops. Medium body, rather sweet. Nice bittersweet citrussy character. Reasonably well rounded with a decent palate texture.
