Cask handpull at The County Hotel, JDW, Ashford. Gold colour with thick lasting cream off white head. Sulphur and yeast on aroma, some citrus hop. OK condition. It’s alright, but not much to it, some yeast character and faint hop on finish.

Earlsdon Spoons. Resolving fog of orange-amber becoming lagery and lace-draped. Burton dung and egg aroma; straw, light floral hop, horse shit and sesame through the choking Gilette. Notes of dough, almond, soap and minerals. lemon and grassy hop, Jammy Dodger malts. Clean and biscuity with too much cherry stone. Slick and silky. Too easy.

Cask in the alfread herring. Alround rating: Caramel sweet malt, bit of sulphur, grassy hop, some toffee sweetness later on with a peppery finish. Alright.

Cask conditioned handpump Briar Rose Birmingham. A golden coloured beer with a bit of a white head. The aroma is pretty non eventful with just an odd yeasty note. The taste has some biscuity malts with some fruit and a bit of bitterness. Ordinary.

Cask at the Monks Retreat (JDW), Reading. Amber with a dense cream head; fruity aroma; rather thin, with a fruity and nutty malt flavour; and a dry, creamy finish with a nutty bitterness.

Handpulled cask at JDW Watford. Gold with a white head. The Wadworth house yeast overpowers any tinkling with saaz hops. In a blind tasting this could easily be mistaken for 6X.

Cask conditioned at a Wetherspoons. Orange amber with white head. Herby, lemony, slightly tart beer with a cardboardy note. Some yeast, fungal notes with a pear drop background. It’s ok.

Cask, William Wygston, Wigston. Amber with a small off-white foam. Aromas are light weetabix malts with toffee and grain. Citrus with earthy hops. Flavours are sweet malts with dry tea. Yeasty and peppery with some light pear. Lightly hopped and a bit thin.
