Commercial Description:
Captain Curry was one of the legendary steamboat captains on Seneca Lake. This London-style copper-colored ale is bitter, as the name suggests, yet well balanced by a rich malt character. Goldings hops from the East Kent region in Britain lend it a soft floral aroma. This brew would have been just the style a steamboat captain would enjoy.

Chestnut brown, big airy head. Dry, spicy, medium bodied, aromatic hoppiness.

Massive head. Someone told me this brewery won some GABF awards this year, so I snagged some of their brews here in NYC. Taste: not really hopped at all. Odd. Not even in the aftertaste. Reminds me of the misnamed ’Welsh ESB’ (which is terrific, by the way). More malty than hoppy, and nice to drink. Perhaps a bit thin?

Amber-copperish color with a tiny head and an aroma of subtle hops and fruit. The flavor is very floral, with a decent amount of hops, and a slight bitterness lingering within a slightly dry finish. This is a decent beer that would go great with seafood.

Bitters and strong ales along with the IPA’s have become a favorite. Nice nose, big finish, quite robust in its own right.

Dark, Dark in colour with an insanely large head. The taste strikes the palate instantly and hits with bitterness and some malt and hops. Soon after the initial taste is a feeling of nothingness, which is somewhat odd given the colour and initial flavour. Not a great beer, especially if looking for a beer a good aftertaste!

12oz. bottle: This one is kind of a deep coppery amber, almost brown in color. The head on mine wasn't too big, and went down rather quickly. A little bit of a caramel aroma with the hops. The flavor is a good balance of medium malt body and slightly piney hops. Fairly decent.

Somewhat thin body, but full of malts and earthiness. Not really very bitter at all, but its not a bad-tasting beer.
