Pours pitch black and completely opaque without even the slightest hint of lighter edges even when held to a light source and a one finger frothy coffee colored head that quickly fades into a lasting ring. Roasted malt aroma with lots of bitter dark chocolate, coffee bean, toffee, toast, oatmeal and nut. This beer smells pretty roasty but is also balanced out by a chocolate sweetness. Thinner body than I expected that is heavily carbonated and slightly watered down with some light roasted malt notes and bittersweet chocolate. Other than that there are some faint, subtle hints of oatmeal, dark chocolate, nut, subtle hops, toast and toffee. This has a similar texture to that of a soda with some fizzy carbonation and syrupy cola like chocolate flavors. There is also some faint lactic creaminess there. This beer is very bland and somewhat flavorless. A huge letdown after the nice appearance and decent aroma.

bottle labeled wagner valley oatmeal stout poured a dark nutty brown in color with a fairly nice frothy dark tan head that did fall quickly. aroma has light chocolate, mellow oats, and a touch of roast. thin mouth feel with low carbonation. flavor has a bit more bitterness, chocolate malt, light burnt roast, and some in flavor and texture. a little light even for a sweet stout.

Bottle: Dark brown with a thin creamy beige head. Aroma of heavy roast, light cocoa and mocha. Flavor is lighter in roast with more chocolate, and light maltiness. Has that lingering oatmeal, chocolatey, dry finish with light bittersweetness. Fun. Thanks Beerbill.

Black body with a tan head. Roast y malt with some mild oats, thin and slick. A light smoke note and some berry type esters. Not so good.

Bottle. Aroma of sweet chocolate, cocoa powder, dark grains. Flavor quite sweet with the same chocolate and grain notes and a mild but present chemical note, particularly at the finish. Not the best beer ever made, but I can’t say I didn’t enjoy the five of these I had.

Bottle. This was labeled simply as Wagner Valley Oatmeal Stout. Pours black with a small tan head. Aroma of roasted malt and smoked meats. Flavor is rather sweet (almost fruity), with smoked notes in the background. The sweet and smoked tastes clash a bit too much for me. Odd fruity aftertaste too. In the end, I’m not a fan. 7/4/6/3/13 (3.3/5)

Bottle. Almost black pour with an ample tan head. Aroma has some roast, molasses, and some hints of really ripe blackberries. Flavor is somewhat toasty, a bit bitter and finishes with an odd flavor. Just an ok beer.
