During my 2 years, I spent much time at the fabled "House," where general cacophony occurred nightly. Upon exploring the basement of The House, a few coworkers and myself discovered several bottles of beer, aged nearly 5 years. These bottles, and The House, had belonged to the owner of Wanger’s- legendary Bill Wagner. We drank these beers like little regard for history, and soon regretted it. These beers had aged like a cheap Parisian trollop. 1 of these lethal brews was enough to cause fall-down drunkenness. Nevertheless, we soldiered on... mds (2112), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Creamy, nutty body with coffee bitterness and oat flavours. Pretty solid though it thins out quickly towards the finish. ¾ (4999), Colorado, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 24, 2007 Sample from a bottle. Fresh, sharp vegetal espresso nose, really bright coffee in the aroma, and very rich smelling as well. Lightly pasty/empty texture, medium-to-light frothiness. Coffee flavors prevalent, with some light roast, if any, or maybe more of a burnt dark roasted coffee flavor, and I’m just thinking roast. The coffee is quite delicious – I love coffee stout – but it covers pretty much the entire ‘porter’ in this porter. Still a solid coffee beer. kmweaver (2455), Sebastopol, California, USA

Roasted coffee and dark chocolate in the aroma; hints of vanilla. Medium, well-roasted mouthfeel: plenty of roasted coffee and milk chocolate; slightly oily, inky viscosity; hints of toasted malts at the back end. Medium, coffee and cream finish. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 11, 2006 Growler brought back from the brewery. Very dark brown/black color, mocha head. Pleasant aroma of coffee beans, cocoa, roasted malt. When I first poured and the beer was pretty chilly the coffee came through a lot more in the finish. As it warmed a bit there was more of a powdered cocoa and the coffee subsided a bit. Medium bodied, pretty drinkable. Recommended. Hopefully they get this one out.
