Commercial Description:
Bright sunrise orange in color, this American IPA is boldly hopped with East Kent Goldings, Cascade and locally grown hop varieties to give an intense yet powerfully smooth bitterness. The subtle caramel maltiness only accents the citrus hop highlights. Dry hopped with an incredible 2-1/2 pounds per barrel, this American style IPA is handcrafted to be extraordinarily refreshing.

12oz bottle. I worked for Wagner’s for two years. During my 2 years, I spent much time at the fabled "House," where general cacophony occurred nightly. Upon exploring the basement of The House, a few coworkers and myself discovered several bottles of beer, aged nearly 5 years. These bottles, and The House, had belonged to the owner of Wanger’s- legendary Bill Wagner. We drank these beers like little regard for history, and soon regretted it. These beers had aged like a cheap Parisian trollop. 1 of these lethal brews was enough to cause fall-down drunkenness. Nevertheless, we soldiered on...

bottle: bronzish amber color, thick head with nice lacing..musty caramel aroma with subtle notes of lemongrass and mint...sweet candyish flavors with much more malt presence than needed or wanted...somewhat stale tasting

Bottle. Pours a hazy brown with a small white head. Aroma of caramel malt and light fruits. Flavor of caramel malt, some sweet fruits (tropical fruits, maybe a little banana), with a bittering finish. There is a slight vegetal quality to the malt. This is an ok IPA, not that hoppy really, definitely more malty. Still, a pleasant beer to drink. 7/4/7/4/14 (3.6/5)

On tap at the brewery. A very hoppy ipa, and that is definately a good thing. Straw color, just enough of a malt backbone to suffort the lovely floral and slightly citrusy hop flavor. Finish has a nice bitter bite, but still just barely in balance with everything else. My wife (a recently converted hop head) liked this one too.

Bottle. Aroma of rich, caramel malt, semi-resinous, citrusy/tropical hops. Flavor brings no surprises, though there seems to be a touch too much malt for the nice tropical fruit characteristics to shine through at all times. A bit muddy, including some astringency. Bitter finish that outlasts the astringency. Some positive aspects, some negative.

Another goodie that my wife carted back from NY for me. This was a pure amber color. It drank sharp and bitterly hoppy, with a tinge of a citrus-acidity. The tangy acidity stays behind for quite a while on the whole of the tongue. Mid to full-on malt backs it all up. Good full-flavored IPA. (#3467, 11/2008)
