Clear dark ruby brown. Slim of slimmest foam is dawned briefly in a stained yellowyness before fading to a simple collar ring at the edge. Minimal lacing is present and most doesn’t stick around long as it slowly slips back down to meet the collar. Aroma is semi dark and plummy with a slight toasted toffeeness to its deeply sweetened malt tone along with a slight smokey chocolate sense to it. Taste is pretty solid, good malt tones are lightly muting a sense of fruity darkness of fig and plum and a toasty toffee in the front, and more of a tender, silky chocolate in the back. Mellowing and creamy malt laden tastes are manufacturing a solid sweetness that lasts with a good play mixing of dark fruityness, slight chocolate, and a tiny tug of toastyness rounds off towards the finish. Body is more O-fest -like then Doppelbock-like, but its pretty favorable within a creamy, semi medium, silky, malt body. Glides well across the palate and isn’t cloying much in any areas and gains just a tiny warmth pull as ya go. A pretty solid Doppel here. Favorable in much of its character and beery aspects. Drinks down pretty quickly as the body is easily gliding in a non-sticky creamyness and silken maltyness of sweetness. Could have quite a few of these, no prob.

sample at brewery - This is the one that everyone raves about, but I don’t get it. i have tried this several times, and I find it to be an unbalanced, needlessly sweet alchohol delivery system.

One of a mixed sixer, and I was surprised at how good it was. Nice reddish hue and a fine creamy head. Aroma was OK and the flavor was sweet malts with a full body.

I think these ratings are a bit harsh. No, it’s not a Celebrator, but it is quite good. Nose of sweet malts and alcohol. Appearance dark reddish brown with a big tan head. Taste of sweet malts, chocolate, coffee, and sufficient hops. Mouth is a bith thin, given the size of the beer, but not too thin. Yes, its flavors could be more intense. But it is a complex and enjoyable beer.

A deep red beer with an orange head. The aroma is sweet alcoholic with strong notes of berries. The flavor is sweet malty combined with notes of caramel, alcohol, and berries, leading to an alcoholic end. Inspite of the high ABV, the body is a bit thin.

bottle from logan. dark brown pour with a garnet glow to it. maple syrup nose with honeysuckle and very light smokey bacon and cherry. sweet chocolate syrup taste with a dose of cherry. has a bit of metal flavor that lingers on the side of my tongue. a nice accompaniement to the pissing razors song i am listening to. this is a thick brew and very sweet. biscuit and toffee finish. the pros definitely outway the cons in this one.

Pours a clear brown color with minimal white fizzy head. Aroma is slightly sweet and alcohol undertone. Flavor is mild caramel and slight hop bitterness. Overall, not great, but not bad either.
