Dark Brown Color with Sandy Head. Syrupy Aroma. More Warming Than the Dopple is Easily Evident. Syrupy Mouthfeel. Sweet, More Potent Tasting Bock. Plenty of Burning in this Smooth, Syrupy and Simple Bock.

Pours reddish brown with a thin tan head. Smells of alcohol, raisins, fruit, dough, some bread. Tastes of sweet sugary malt, some oak, cherries and spicy hints. Mouthfeel is full with a sweet woody finish. This bottle’s mellowed out some in the 2 years since I last tried it.

750mL bottle thanks to Adam P. This was a real treat. Poured a dark brown with a tan head. I’ll be honest, the body frightened me. The aroma was very interesting, I could not put my finger on what it was...something very sweet. It tasted very smooth despite the 11% abv, however I tried this after a couple Honey browns.

[143-20061221] 750mL. Wine-esque, sweet boozy aroma. Dark brown-amber body with a quick light brown head. Tastes like thick syrupy boozy sweetness with a hint of apples and a herby aftertaste. Sugary medium body. OK togetherness but over-boozed.

Bottle shared with HogTownHarry, GregClow, jerc & mabel -- courtesy of HogTownHarry. Pours a dark reddish-brown with a spare tan head. Aroma of sweet malt, light hops, chocolate and some lactic notes. Flavour’s the same: Sweet caramel malt, a little lactic along with some chocolate and light hops. Alcohol’s quite well hidden. Medium bodied. This is a great Bock!

Bottle shared with HogTownHarry, blankboy, jerc & mabel - courtesy of HogTownHarry. Ruby brown with a medium tan head. Aroma of tart fruit, sweet malt, and some herbal & lactic hints. Nice mouthfeel, soft and full. Flavour is warm with nice sweet & sour notes, a bit of spice and fruit, and some woody roast notes in the finish. Yeah, pretty nice.

Bottle (750ml). Shared with blankboy, GregClow, jerc and mabel, my bottle. Deep clear ruby with a large foamy tan head. Aroma of sour fruit and sweet caramel malt, lightly touched with lemon juice and woody, herbal spice. Tasted of coriander, raisin and lemon over nice thick roasty malt, interesting cedar tang in the finish, solid alcohol presence. Solid body, very lively and astringent mouthfeel, not too boozy - I thought it was pretty complex. Oddly tangy for a doppel, but I liked it a lot, especially the finish.

Bottle. Dark brown with a good sized beige head that fades quickly. Sweet caramel aroma quickly gives way to alcohol (6+). Up front flavour of sweet malt and pleasant caramel diminishes, finishing with a dryish tang in the finish. Pleasant overall, grows on you as the glass goes on. Average to medium palate (3+). Solid but simplistic at times - which is not a bad thing per se.
