12 oz. bottle. I really enjoyed this beer and I think it deserves a higher rating. Pours an opaque garnet/brown with a bubbly mocha colored head. Maple flavor is present but not overdone. Also got some coffee and malt flavors as well. A well crafted brew.

04.23.05 Tap and TAP NY. Dark brown, thin head, served too cold. Lighter fruit aromas, not very roasty, very dry. I don’t get much maple or sweetness. It’s good with a clean finish.

Tap. Poured to a smoky black color with a very strong smell and thin head. The smells were that of wine, much alcohol present. Tastes of chocolate and caramel are their but as you swollow flavors diminsh top almost nothing but water. Medium bodied. Very good I’d be intrested to see a difference if it was out of a bottle.

On tap at Half-Time. Very dark, almost opaque with a thin tan head. Nose almost like wine with some decent roasted malt finish. Good sweet coffee flavor. Caramel finish. Thin mothfeel. Decent porter.

On draft at Half Time, Poughkeepsie, NY. Pours very dark obsidina with medium tan head. Aroma of malt, maple, chocolate, slight vanilla. Tastes malty, with some maple, chocolate, slight coffee, and vanilla hints at the culmination. Very nice complexity.

April, 2004. Deep brown clear ale with a moka head. Light vanilla aroma. Roasted malts but not much else, some nuttiness. Medium bodied.

(12 oz bottle, obtained in trade with Eyedrinkale, thanks Mike!) ARG! After pouring only a few ounces of this black liquid, I had a completely full glass of head, and nothing else; No exaggeration, it took me 25 minutes to actually get the full bottle of beer poured into the glass; What eventually we have is a very black beer topped with a thick, dense mass of tan colored head that refuses to give way; I get a little hops in the nose, some sweetness, some smokiness, but not really much roasty aromas; Each sip is explosive in the mouth, being extremely carbonated; It's also smoky and strongly yeasty; And oh yeah, it's a porter after all, so it's moderately bitter and fairly roasty; While I don't necessarily get a lot of actual maple flavor, this beer is quite sweet, almost sugary, and leaves a somewhat unpleasant and annoying after taste; It's medium bodied, but a bit thin and watery on the palate, and the sweetness is a bit cloying; Lacing is plentiful; Even hours later, the very bubbly head is still a permanent fixture atop the beer

This was a boomer. The beer didn’t foam in the bottle, but once it hit the glass, it exploded into a light tan head. Very stiff and meringue-like once it settled down. Very dark brown didn’t let much light through at all. Overall a very attractive beer. Slight creosote in the aroma along with molasses. The molasses carries into the flavor with a very slight bit of smoke backing it up. Ok, but overcarbonated.
