Commercial Description:
An unfiltered Bavarian-style wheat ale. The special Bavarian yeast used lends a distinct clove and banana aroma with just a touch of citrus bitterness on the palate. A very light summer beer with a very full mouth-feel. Available June-September

(bottle - 12 oz) Gold color with a decent amount of white foam. Aroma is light with some slight hints of cloves, wheat, and banana. Flavor is a strong banana and clove hint at the beginning that switches quickly to a bitter and tart wheat taste. Finishes bitter and grainy with a light banana sweetness.

Bottle. Pours a golden body with a white head. Wheat banana and some light spices. Citric with hints of copper and vegetational notes. Eh what a mess.

Thanks to my wife for carting this from NY for me. Orange-yellow with only a thin top. Banana creme essence, but the flavor also carries a bit of an odd funk to it. (#3479, 11/2008)

12 oz bottle, from brewery. Pours a hazy orangish amber body with a small fizzy off-white head that vanished quickly. The nose is not especially clean, there’s some spoiled veggies that are coming on stronger than the usual banana and clove notes that I would expect from a Hefe. The flavor is similar, there is some positive yeast character, but it’s mostly just a murky mess. Why is there so much caramel character going on here? Mouthfeel is medium bodied, a little too heavy, with moderate fizzy carbonation. There’s a weird stickiness on the back end that seems out of place as well. This was just plain old not good. I’m not even sure that I would pick this out of a line-up as being a Hefe.

Bottle: Poured a cloudy dark yellow with a fluffy white head. The aroma was of banana, cloves and wheat. The flavor was a tad watered down with flavors of citrus, spice and wheat present. Overall, decent but not great.

Bottle. Cloudy with lots of head. Something is very strange here. Maybe an old bottle or something, but I taste wheat with a "hot dog" type taste. Not much of a wheat fan, but this one is quite unique.

Pours a haT golden orange with a small buubly white head. Aroma of banana, clove, wheat and light citrus. Flavor of lemon, clove, light banana and some tart wheat.

Hazy yellow to bronze, small constantly replenishing head. Lemon and wheat on the nose, some grain. Taste very nice: upfront a bit indistinct with tart wheat note, some honey. Mid-palate this turns distinctly fruity with both lemon and predominant banana. Finish is extremely spicy, clove and coriander, as the fruit fades out completely. Aftertaste brings it back full circle, to grains and some overpowering wheat. High carbonation while retaining a full feel on the palate, some slight bitterness. Very nice, really refreshing. Better than the sum of its parts.
